Bally's Las Vegas Summary

Features: At Bally's Hotel and Casino Las Vegas, guests are ushered along 200-foot automated walkways, past glowing towers and through 8-miles worth of coiled neon lights. Once inside, guests of Bally's have varied options -- 3,211 rooms that range from basic to extravagant.

The hotel is home to 67,000 square feet of fantastic and classic gaming and features the longest running adult show in Vegas, Jubilee! -- a can't-miss showgirl extravaganza that reenacts the sinking of the Titanic. The seasonal pool for ultimate summer luxury is lined with private cabanas featuring television and absolute privacy.

Why We Stay: Bally's is classic and charming Las Vegas. The hotel and casino is a neon-lit monstrosity on the Strip that seems like a subtle, classy establishment.

  • We Love Jubilee: We seriously can't plug Donn Arden's show enough, it's the longest running adult show in Vegas (opened in 1981) and it has the best of classic and iconic Las Vegas showgirls.
  • We Love Tennis: You should have left the racquet at home, but you didn't did you? Good thing Bally's has the largest tennis complex on the Strip. See you on the courts.
  • We Love Paris: Let's face it, who doesn't wish they could take a stroll to a Parisian cafe? Well, Bally's Vegas has a walkway straight to the shops of Paris Resort Hotel. Stay at the cheaper neighbor and go sightseeing in the France of Las Vegas.

Inside Knowledge: In the winter, Bally's guests can hit the heated indoor pools at the hotel's partners, The Flamingo, Rio and Caesar's Palace. The same idea works anytime -- there are no clubs at Bally's so if you want to go out ask the desk for passes to the other properties' venues. Try Pure at Caesar's Palace, it's one of the best in Vegas.

Do's and Don'ts:

  • Do Eat at the Sterling Brunch: Every Sunday the delicious Bally's Steakhouse features caviar, champagne and other delectables served by tuxedo wait-staff.
  • Do Play the world's first $1,000 slots: Even if you're not a high roller, Bally's Casino floor has some of the most diverse gaming, from cheap craps to -- yes -- $1,000 slots.
  • Don't Use the Monorail: Overpriced, inefficient and sketchy. A taxi will cost you less. Better yet, catch the free, "sinners welcome" Jesus Bus that runs along the Strip.
  • Don't Eat in the Foodcourt: Sbarros might sound good, but you're in Vegas -- home of cheap high-end dining. At least try Al Dente or the Mexican Cantina.

Bally's - Solid for the Price

Bally's is one of those hotels lacking a "Vegas theme." It's hard to say exactly what the hotel is going for; it's got a classic charm to it reminiscent of "Old Vegas" (most notably their famous Jubilee! topless revue), and while the casino itself is pretty small, the rooms are spacious and solid, to say the least.

There are a few decent dining options at Bally's; my favorite is the Sidewalk Cafe, which is a reasonably-priced, diner-style restaurant that's a whole lot bigger than it looks from the outside. There's also a cheap taco and tequila joint that I saw a number of posters for, but never quite made it to. (Which is surprising because, if there's anything I'm always on board for, it's $2 Margaritas and $2 tacos.)

The rooms at Bally's are pretty basic, but they do a lot with the space they're afforded. My room had a love seat and a glass table by the window, which was really convenient when I decided to grab a late sandwich and wanted to get away from the crowds my first night in Vegas. (I know, I know. I'm lame.) The TV was one of those block-y old things but, let's face it, we're not in Vegas to watch TV. Come on, now.

As for the rest of the hotel, here's a quick little Pro and Con list summarizing what to expect at Bally's. First, the good stuff ...

Pros

  • Excellent location smack-dab in the middle of the Vegas Strip.
  • Bally's is attached to the Paris Hotel, which means there are several French dining options just a short walk away. Also, one of the cafe's in Paris, JJ's Boulangerie, has free Wi-Fi which, for me, really came in handy. (More on this in the 'Cons' list.)
  • Cheap when you use a promo code. I took advantage of their 2 nights for 20% off deal and found rooms under $40 a night.
  • Sort of an older crowd, which I didn't find terrible.
  • Service was hit and miss, but they did let me check in a few hours early so, thumbs up there.
  • No resort fees = AWESOME.

Cons

  • The check-out line on Wednesday afternoon was moving as quickly as the lava from the 1997 film "Volcano." I had a question and was forced to wait at least 25 minutes, and there were probably only five people ahead of me. The line was wrapping around all three turnstiles by the time I left. I can't recommend the express check-out enough.
  • Internet was $12- 13.99 (I can't remember the exact number) PER NIGHT. Hit up JJ's in Paris if you need Internet access.
  • The moving walkways were on every other time I walked through the entryway, which meant they were broken every other time as well.
  • I found myself spending way more time in the nicer, newer and (obviously) more expensive Paris hotel. If you can swing it, I would recommend this hotel over Bally's. If not, you can just pretend you're staying there, too. (Like I did.)

Overall, I have very few bad things to say about Bally's. For the price, you can't beat the location, and I really did enjoy the room I was assigned. Admittedly, the last few minutes I spent in line at Bally's left a bad taste in my mouth but, for 98% of the time this hotel was great. I would absolutely recommend Bally's for budget travelers - just make sure to use a promo code.

Bally's Las Vegas - A perfectly fine weekend

I stayed at Ballys Resort with a few friends for a gaming tournament back in June, as the rooms were part of a bulk rate from the company that was putting on the big gaming event. The room block rate that we got from the company was $70 a night, which seemed fine at the time. The hotel rooms were nice; nothing special, but it was a great price for being on the strip.

Most of our weekend was spent inside the convention hall between Ballys and Paris. The location was a little far for those times we needed to get back to our room, but that's a minor complaint. The casino itself was clean. I was a little bummed at the size of the poker area, but we were also here during the World Series of Poker so it's not like this was a prime place to play in comparison. Staff was always courteous and tended to our needs.

My favorite perk from staying at Ballys, though? The alcoholic slushy stand at the entrance to the walkway that connects Ballys and Paris. That place was a great stop in the morning, afternoon, evening...I guess that place was a great stop at any time of the day for a little Irish coffee slushy! It was conveniently along my walk to the convention area, which was also in the middle area that connects Ballys and Paris.

Overall, for a hotel on the strip, Bally's had everything we really needed. The rooms were clean, the location was great, and the price was good.

Oh, and my one major regret from my stay here? I didn't get a chance to see Jubilee! That show looks incredible, and I will not miss it the next time I stay in Vegas.

Horrible.

I would not stay at this hotel ever again, and can only tell you to think twice before booking with any Harrah's property-

My outdated room with worn out stained carpet also had a very large ugly visible stain on the ceiling in the bathroom.   On the last night when I was getting ready for dinner out with friends - while sitting on the 'throne', brown water dripped down on my head and back. I looked up to see the ceiling was bulging like a balloon of water. The brown water was most likely sewage from an overflowing toilet in the room above us.  I called the hotel operator who sent a plumber. The plumber said he had to move us to another room.   This would have made us late for our dinner reservations with friends so I said we'd have to deal with moving us when we got back from dinner. A few hours later, we came back from dinner and I went immediately to front desk. The plumber had not notified the desk of bathroom disaster. Front desk clerk did not care about the sewage, nor the mess, nor the hassle that their hotel's negligence in maintaining their property caused us. The hotel manager  would only offer us a $25 voucher for dinner, which was pointless - We had already eaten and It was close to 10pm, on our last night, we had to check out by 4am that morning to catch flight.  When the bellhop moved us to a new room I told him to tell the rude front desk clerk how bad the bathroom was, the clerk said it was "no big deal". Just unbelievable rude uncaring staff. I'm left with an overwhelming dislike for this disaster of an accommodation. If your reading this - and are thinking about staying here don't! By the way -  what kind of stupid hotel closes their pool at 7pm?

ok for the price

The room was spacious, and comfortable, although for a nice hotel, should have been cleaner. There was dust, and spots here and there. The pool is fantastic, but you have to walk through the casino, and by various shops to get to it. The location is great. Right on the strip by several attractions.

Awesome Location

Awesome Location If your looking for a hotel that is in the heart of the strip and isn't flashy but just a place to sleep this is your place. The tables are pretty cold so gamble elsewhere, don't eat at the restaurants unless you want to wait a good half hour for someone to seat you (even if its almost empty). The Sportsbook is very nice along with the pool. And you cannot beat the fact that your connected to Paris. Would stay here again, pretty cheap for the location and if your just gonna use it to sleep a few hours you can't beat the price.

Bally's Hotel

Overall, Ballys Hotel in Las Vegas is good, in the middle of the Strip.  Not bad odds on the slots either!  We checked in late as a group of 4 and had requested 2 non-smoking rooms that were next to each other.  Instead, we were placed in smoking rooms on different floors.  The next day we were promised rooms next to each other that were non-smoking and when we went to the front desk, they had no knowledge of this request.  UGH!  After speaking with the front desk manager, we were upgraded to the North Tower for free and were given great rooms across the hall from each other.

Tips: South Tower has big rooms with small refrigerators in them.  The sleeping rooms and bathrooms are rather spacious but a bit dingy.

North Tower has rooms that are much nicer but a bit smaller and did not have refrigerators or coffee pots in the rooms.

Perfect location

I was upgraded to the North Tower because I have a Harrah's Total Rewards Card.  I'm fairly loyal to their casinos because they have the best comps.  Have stayed in several hotels on the strip over time.  For the mid-price range, I was very happy with this one.  Very convenient to get to other places in Vegas.  Easy walk over to Caesars Palace and the Forum Shops and you can even go in the Paris Hotel without even having to go outdoors.  Service was friendly.  Valet parking was quick and painless. The hotel restaurants are basic but there are unlimited restaurants to chose from in the area.

Bally's is a great place for the price

We paid an average of $78 a night for a 4 night stay...smoking deal!  The room had 2 queen size beds and a satisfactory work station. The location is right in the center of town, on the strip,  and could not be better.

NO, its one of the nicest hotels on the strip, but, who cares, I didn't come to vegas to stay in our room!

A few great perks to staying at Bally's:
~Next to Bellagio with the free water show-beautiful at sunset.
~Next to Treasure Island with the free pirate show-pretty cool.
~Connected walkway to Paris hotel-lots of shopping.
~Connected to the Monorail that takes you all around the main strip in vegas.

Cast members mingle with the audience, gossiping about the bride and getting a little too drunk. Tony and Tina's Wedding encourages audience participation and is a fun-loving, rip-roaringly funny dinner show.

The Amazing Johnathan in the Harmon Theater is a crass, offensive comic delight. The Amazing Johnathan show turns the tables on the audience and makes them the butt of the joke, especially for the lucky (unlucky?) audience member who is summoned on stage for an extended roasting.

There to help facilitate things is Psychic Tanya, the delightful dizty blond assistant, who also takes the brunt of Johnathan's abuse. His brand of humor is most definitely NOT for everybody, but people who enjoy insult comedy have found their hero.

Jubilee Las Vegas is the classic showgirl production for anyone who wants to experience old school Vegas at it's best. Today, it actually holds the title of the longest running show currently in Vegas with 29 years on the Strip.

Jubilee features nearly 100 performers, and 50 of them are topless. The show combines stunning showgirls, excellent music and intricate costumes and headpieces by Cher's designer, Bob Mackie. For the classic Las Vegas experience, check out Julibee at Bally's Las Vegas.

Bally's Las Vegas Restaurants

Offering a traditional Italian experience, Al Dente Las Vegas in the Bally's Hotel and Casino is an elegant and affordable eatery. The Sicilian-style cuisine is reminiscent of a mom and pop bistro in Palermo.

Take Al Dente's authentic Italian capellini pomodoro dish. The vine-ripened tomatoes, fresh basil and shaved reggiano parmesan really bring out those flavors that Sicily is known for. Try their classic tiramisu parfait for dessert. However, regardless of what you decide to order, we're sure you're going to be satisfied at Al Dente.

After years of proving itself as a worthy destination for locals and tourists alike, Bally's Steakhouse Vegas has earned the distinct reputation as one of the premiere steakhouses on the Las Vegas Strip. Lets put it this way, ordering a filet mignon here is definitely money well spent.

The red leather booths and brass lighting fixtures creates the setting of a sophisticated hunting lodge in Colorado. This signature Las Vegas restaurant has perfected their menu over time, but we recommend ordering the classic aged prime rib with the decadent banana creme pie for dessert.

The intimate Japanese sushi bar Ichiban sits in the basement of Bally's Hotel and Casino, but don't let that fool you, this place should not be overlooked.

Experience the traditional sushi experience of Japan and sit at the rotating bar where innovative rolls and sashimi float by your seat. This gives you the chance to see all the menu options before selecting your meal. Plus, the best thing about Ichiban is that it's not expensive and pretentious, it's affordable and comfortable.

Located inside Ballys hotel and casino, The Sidewalk Cafe Las Vegas on the strip serves good old fashioned American favorites like steak and eggs, homemade pies and tuna melts.  Ballys is one of Las Vegas' longest standing hotels and formerly home to the MGM Grand, so a visit to Ballys and The Sidewalk Cafe is like walking into a piece of Las Vegas history.  The Sidewalk Cafe serves affordable, good food in a no frills atmosphere and is a great place for breakfast or lunch.

Bally's Las Vegas Pools

The pool at Bally's doesn't see the need to be fancy and expensive in order to accomplish its goal of offering guests a relaxing day by the pool. The underrated pool has great cocktail service, a pool that's actually deep, and a laid-back environment that doesn't require showing up in designer bathing suits and sunglasses.

Live DJ's spin music to help keep the poolside energy up, and cabana rentals offer families a cool hide away from the sun. Everyone is welcome at the Bally's pool, where all types come together harmoniously.
