The Flamingo habitat at the Flamingo Las Vegas Resort is an escape from the bustle of the Vegas Strip.
Customer Testimonial
"
Who knew there was a Wildlife Habitat in the middle of the Strip? I didn't! I was like WHOA! Where are we? There were Flamingos, swan, tiny headed birdies, cute but weird ducks, and huge coi fish. It was nice to sit outside in the cool air and then walk around and see the animals. Oh! There's a waterfall too!

Summary
Features: The iconic ruffled-pink decor of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino isn't quite enough for Las Vegas, so of course, the hotel invited some of it's namesake feathered friends to nest up near the pool. Today, the wildlife habitat at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino is also home to swans, ducks, koi and turtles.
Why We Go: If you're looking for a place to get away from the bustle of the Strip, look no further than the Flamingo's Habitat Garden. Already known for it's lowkey environment, the Flamingo has gone a step further with this.
- Jungle Living: The lush greenery, soothing waterfalls and Chilean Pink Flamingos add a sort of zen to the outdoor center of the Flamingo Hotel that is unrivaled on the Strip.
- Hype-Free: Unlike the Exotic Gardens of the Mirage, the habitat at the Flamingo feels simple, subtle and comfortable. Less like an exhibit and more like a flamingo refuge.
Inside Knowledge: Much of the foliage that makes up the Flamingo Habitat is imported from around the world including the Flamingo's natural habitat in Chile.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Visit During the Day: The crowd might be a little thicker in the height of the day, but with the sun and the birds out, you're guaranteed a scenic respite from the Strip's mid-day crowds and heat.
- Don't Take a Pet: After a night of drinking it might sound fun to make a flamingo your suite mate. Trust us, neither the birds, nor the Flamingo's security will appreciate your great idea.

Oasis
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place on a walk. I loved that it was free and so enchanting. Lots of interesting birds and fish. The ducks were too funny. The area was beautiful and there was even a wedding going on when we were there. I'm not sure if a lot of people aren't sure it's there or what, but we had no problem being able to see everything. We had a great time and it was a nice stop on our drunken walk. I would imagine this would be fun for kids to see the animals. There were plaques all around that gave a little information on the animals on display.

Flamingo Habitat - A quiet backdoor refuge
I didn't exactly have high hopes for the Flamingo Habitat; I mean, what's so great about a couple of flamingos hanging out in what amounts to a small front lawn? (Which is what I imagined.) Oh, how wrong I was ...
The Flamingo Habitat is actually pretty awesome, if only because it's quiet, outdoors, there are multiple koi ponds and even a man-made waterfall; all of which combined for a pretty relaxing experience.
There wasn't exactly a plethora of animals in the Habitat. By my count, I saw exactly two flamingos, one cute bird that waddled around the premises and appeared to be too fat to fly, several more smaller birds (I think there's a secret bird feeder lodged somewhere in the Habitat's thicker vegetation.) and over a dozen catfish and koi in two adjacent ponds. Not too shabby for the relatively small piece of real estate the Habitat occupies.
Another cool thing about the Habitat is that the Garden Cafe is right next door, so you can order a coffee, lunch or whatever and sit outside to enjoy what amounts to "nature" on the Las Vegas Strip. The entire set-up is pretty tranquil, with visitors keeping quiet so as not to scare off the birds.
While the Flamingo Habitat isn't a must-see by any stretch, it's definitely worth killing 20 minutes or here if you're in the area. And definitely bring your camera.

Beautiful, free oasis
Where else can you find a habitat with Flamingos and Penguins on Las Vegas Blvd.? To boot For free! The Flamingos were pink and beautiful, letting the day pass them by while visitors took their picture. The other birds are tame, and not afraid to approach you, along with some swans, baby ducks, and lots of dive bombing sparrows to watch out for. The ponds are filled with koi and some turtles to keep you entertained. There are pamphlets and signs that tell you about the animals you are looking at. You can't beat this tiny habitat off the North Tour Lobby of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. It's beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. A great way to pass 15 minutes of your time.

Good time killer
All in all, we probably only spent about 20 minutes there and saw it all. But it was a nice time killer. For something free in Vegas, it was a good stop, there are flamingos, along with some swans, cute baby ducks, and lots of dive bombing sparrows to watch out for. The ponds are filled with koi and some turtles to keep you entertained. You can't beat this tiny habitat off the North Tour Lobby of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino
