NY Roller Coaster - $15? Basically worth it.
It took three trips to Las Vegas to convince me, but I finally decided to pay the $15 and hop on the famous Roller Coast at New York NY. I like to think of myself as a Coaster aficionado and, while the ride itself wouldn't crack my top 5, the views and the atmosphere make the ride worth it.
That's not to say the New York Roller Coaster is bad - it actually has just about everything you look for in a great coaster ride. There's that signature first drop, which will have your stomach turning just as you'd hoped for. Second, it goes upside down, which is a must for any newer, non-wooden coaster. Third, it jerks you around just enough to get you feeling nervous without giving the rider whiplash. So yeah, overall the New York NY Roller Coaster brings a lot of positives to the table.
The best thing about the ride - other than the fact that you're moving 65+ mph upside-down - are the views. As you climb slowly to the top of the first drop, you'll enjoy fantastic scenery high above the Vegas Strip. I went in the middle of the day, but would've loved to have taken the ride at night to see the bright Vegas lights. I'd recommend going any time of the day, but I can only imagine how excellent the views are at night.
The only knock against the New York NY Roller Coaster would be the price. $15 per rider is expensive, especially if you're traveling with a family of four. (I wasn't, but, you can do the math.) Plus, it's pretty quick - maybe a little longer than a minute, but not by much. So, consider your wallet before you walk through the turnstile.
Overall, it's Vegas - treat yourself to a thrill ride at the New York NY Roller Coaster and I don't think you'll be disappointed. I know I wasn't. However, my buddy who struggled through lunch after the ride might have something different to say about all this...

NY NY Coaster
We stayed at New York New York when we vacationed in Vegas. One of the best things about the hotel, what I thought, was the Roller Coaster! It was neat to see it right from our window...it was kinda like staying in an amusement park. We road it and it was just as neat as watching it. You go pretty fast and the cars are in the shape of Taxi Cabs just like in New York City! The ride wasn't long at all...only about 5 minutes or so if that, we road twice and paid $15. We found out later that we coulda purchased a $25 scream pass and road as much as we liked. We will be sure to stay at NY NY when we return to Vegas!

Unbelievable...
If you're searching for some action while in Vegas, you have to check out the roller coaster at New York New York. You board the ride and get into these cool "taxi cab" cars to begin your journey, you get skyrocketed into the sky at 67 miles per hour, go up 203 ft then get dropped down to 144 ft, you go through twists and turns and you're clenching your harness. The ride only lasts 2 minutes and 45 seconds but is well worth it. The cost is $14.00 and to ride a second time is an additional $7 bucks, or you can purchase the $25.00 scream pass and ride as much as you like. Definatley worth the money!
