After a 6-year run at the Venetian Hotel in Vegas, it was announced this past week that the critically-acclaimed yet profit-challenged "Phantom - The Vegas Spectacular" would close permanently on September 2.

It's an old saying that "Laughter is the best medicine," and in recent years there have been scientific studies suggesting that laughter really does make the human body healthier. If these theories are true, Las Vegas will be one healthy place to be in 2012 - well, when it comes to laughter at least - as some of the funniest comedians to have ever graced the stage are scheduled to perform throughout Sin City; most notably at the Mirage.

New Year's Eve has always been a time for self-reflection, new beginnings and fresh starts. NYE 2012 in Vegas will mark the end of some of the more recognizable shows and venues in Las Vegas, while new Las Vegas hot-spots are set to make their debut on the Strip.

A Christmas classic is getting the Las Vegas treatment this holiday season, in more ways than one. 

Given their track record when it comes to combining dazzling circus performances with some of the most iconic music of all time, there was little surprise when Cirque du Soleil announced plans to create a show dedicated to the 'King of Pop' - Michael Jackson - just over a year ago.

Let’s face it: partying in Las Vegas on December 31st is the best way to ring in the New Year. Las Vegas clubs go all out to feature the hottest celebrities and DJs, restaurants plan out elaborate meals, midnight champagne toasts and fireworks up and down the Strip, Vegas turns into even more of a giant party than it usually is. So why doesn't everyone flock to Sin City for New Year’s Eve each year?

After a three month, multi-million dollar renovation, the Venetian Las Vegas has started the month out right with the opening of its brand new sports book Tuesday, Nov. 1.

It may not feel like Winter is on the way in Sin City, but hotels and resorts in Las Vegas are already preparing for what's sure to be an exciting season.

However, no other hotel in Vegas is gearing up for the Winter season quite like the Venetian.
