Flamingo Las Vegas Summary
Features: The Flamingo Las Vegas sprung its pink feathers out of the desert in 1946 and today it's a legend on the famous four corners of Las Vegas Boulevard. The 28-floor Flamingo Resort Hotel has more than 3,500 remodeled rooms ranging from simple to luxurious and the casino floor is great for simple and classic gaming. With a ton of top Vegas shows and restaurants, and a 15-acre Caribbean-style playground of tropical pools, water-slides and wildlife gardens, the Flamingo Casino and Resort is a paradise on the Strip.
Why We Stay: The Flamingo wasn't made famous by Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but the book certainly attracted it's share of weird since it was released. There's a family aspect to the Flamingo Resort, but the quirky, classic and booze-filled is what pulls us in:
- Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville: The crooner is more lighthearted than Thompson, but he knows how to party. This is a great spot for a day drink, and the patio on the Strip is the best people-watching in Vegas.
- Bugsy Siegel: The famous mobster that pushed at the forefront of Vegas development was key in sprouting the Flamingo. While all evidence of the mob has been ruffled off the hotel, it's still a little exciting to imagine from the casino floor.
- The View: Take it from Thompson and see the American Dream: "Look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark -- that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back." You can also see the best of the Vegas Strip.
Inside Knowledge: In the Flamingo Wedding Chapel's central garden has a plaque that highlights some of the city's more colorful history. It also describes the events which led to the well-publicized death of mobster and Flamingo founder Bugsy Siegel.
Do's and Don'ts: Here are a few recommendations to make your visit to the Flamingo Hotel and Casino a little easier:
- Do Visit the Spa: Indulge yourself in the Eucalyptus steam room or a Sugar Glow treatment. Don't go in after drinking (or hungover), cause you'll only end up sick. Hit the spa before Margaritaville.
- Do Find the Lagoon Pool: A swim in grotto behind the triple waterfall is great for a poolside rendezvous. There are also a 150-foot slide that drops in three terraced pools.
- Don't Settle for an older room: While nearly every room has been remodeled, some may yet to get the rounds and smell like smoke and years of booze -- they'll switch your room if you ask.
- Don't Try to take home a flamingo: You would be surprised how often this happens. They live at the hotel, and would make terrible pets -- plus you'll never get off the hotel grounds.

The Flamingo's Deluxe Room is comfortable and decorated in a subdued modern, brown-wood theme, with quaint sitting space and a small desk. The room -- at nearly 350 square feet -- is roomy enough for any stay in Vegas, and includes all the normal hotel amenities.
Flamingo Go Room
The new Flamingo Go Rooms have been called sexy by more than one source, and with the white vinyl headboard and smooth chocolate , light pink and fluffy cloud colors of the room make it as deliciously inviting as designer candy bars.

Average, awesome pool!
My 4-night stay at the Flamingo was a satisfactory experience. I have never visited Las Vegas before and I was looking forward to having a decent trip. The pool did not disappoint me, there was beautiful landscaping, lots of private, lagoon-like areas, and YES, a water slide. On the weekend, you really have to get out there by no later than 7:30 or 8. The little pool-side bar was awesome and the drinks were tasty. The furniture in my room was a little run-down, but the room itself was very clean. Many rooms even have a direct view of the Bellagio's water fountains. The hotel lobby was crowded and loud, thats to be expected in Vegas I guess. Not too bad.

Good Location, decent price
Arrived at the Flamingo at 2pm. Our rooms were not ready but we were aware that check-in was not until 4pm. We stayed in a deluxe room. Our room overlooked the Gardens, a plus for sure! The pool was definitely a plus - that's one of the main reasons along with the great location why we opted for the Flamingo. There are 2 pools - 1 of which is European Style (topless bathing permitted). This pool costs $10 for men and free for women - worth paying for as it had nicer loungers & ambiance. Service was ok...friendly staff, good check in, check out.

Beautiful pool
At check in, we asked for one of the newly remodeled rooms and were given one at no charge. It was a beautiful, large room overlooking the pool. The pool area was beautiful! It felt like being in a tropical resort with waterfalls and palm trees. Great location right in the middle of the strip.

Not bad, not great
The Flamingo is a nice hotel and the service is really good too, the only thing we really found wrong was they just need to do some updates to the rooms, the restaurants were good, the location is really good too, they just need to get up to date with their decor and room furnishings.

Flamingo Las Vegas Review
We booked the Flamingo Las Vegas kind of last minute but it turned out to be a nice choice. We have stayed at other hotels before but got such a deal that we couldn't refuse. (Our room rate included a buffet) This hotel is located mid-strip with access to everything that you could ever want.
The room was clean, a tad worn in places but the king bed was a winner. Elevators were fast, even up to the top floors. The casino is well lit and we even had a winning streak. What more could we ask for???!!!****
The pool rocked with a DJ and a really cool crowd. There is a really nice garden area that is a great place to sit back and relax. The staff in the hotel was friendly and kids were at a minimum. The only drawback that I can think of was that there was no refrigerator in our room. Other than that, no complaints with "Bugsy's Place"!!

The Flamingo Hotel & Casino - Go Room
Number 1 tip for an enjoyable stay at The Flamingo: Upgrade to a Go room! For about $30/night, you absolutely won't regret the decision. A friend stayed in a basic room which was worn, dated, and just felt dirty. THe Go room bed was far more comfortable and we really enjoyed the contemporary bathroom and the wall mounted flat screen. Service at THe Flamingo was generally friendly and efficient, thought not up to the standards of many of the newer hotels. Housekeeping kept the room up nicely on a daily basis.
We ate at several restaurants in the hotel. Margaritaville was fun,had good service and decent food. Burger Joint had mediocre food and kind of weak service. The buffet lacked everything!
We have stayed in several of the strip hotels and while the Flamingo doesn't rank tops, we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again as long as we were in a Go room.

Flamingo Hotel las Vegas - Trip with the Bros
The Flamingo is a "no frills" hotel that is inexpensive and is in an excellent location in the heart of the strip. The rooms are old but clean. The restaurants are pretty good and the grounds are nice. If you are trying to impress your date than the Flamingo is not for you. Howwever, if youd on't plan on spending too much time in the room then I highly recommend The Flamingo Las Vegas

Tennis at the Flamingo!
The Flamingo has history....even though this Flamingo isn't the original Bugsy Siegel's hotel, it still has the name and makes you feel like you are taking part of vintage Vegas. I went to Vegas to meet some old friends from the east coast to play slots, play tennis, drink, eat, and be merry! The gardens were gorgeous and lush. The penguins, flamingos, ducks and fish were fun to watch as we walked around the property. So glad we picked this reasonably priced hotel. It wasn't the most luxurious hotel I've stayed in, but it was fun and the location can't be beat.
