Gallery Nightclub Las Vegas

Gallery Nightclub - Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

I'm not a nightclub guy. Don't get me wrong - I've done the whole nightclub thing and had a great time. I'm not anti-nightclub or anything like that. It's just that I don't often seek them out, especially when it's just a buddy and I hanging out.

However, feeling great after winning a few bucks at Planet Hollywood, we were approached by a promoter on the casino floor handing out wristbands guaranteeing free entry into the Gallery Nightclub, which was just a few feet from where we were standing. Given the proximity and the convenience, we decided to give it a shot. 'Hey, it's free, if it sucks we'll just leave, no harm no foul."

Well, after about five minutes and a meticulous look through the drink menu, we both had the same idea: "Bail."

Let me back up a second. It was 10pm on a Wednesday night when we walked into Gallery - not exactly the best time to check out what is alleged to be one of the better nightclubs in Vegas. However, as we strolled through the Gallery, which is pretty dark save for the bar areas, we noticed that even the go-go girls were having a tough time getting into the music. (Your standard Rhianna/Pitbull/David Guetta nightclub play-list that may as well have come from an iPod.) Seriously, one dancer in particular looked like she was going to take her boots and go home. So much for getting the crowd excited.

Drink prices were pretty high, though I have a feeling this is standard for the Strip. ($13/cocktail) Since I was forced to CHUG a fresh beer before we were allowed in, I decided to pass on the marked-up booze at Gallery.

Finally, the crowd was ... interesting. I absolutely saw a 75-year-old women in here, I kid you not. And you know what? I loved it. Hell, she looked more energetic than myself and the go-go dancers combined. Also, it was a bit of a bro-fest in here, not surprising considering they let my ratio-free friend and I in the door without any ladies present.

Basically on this night, the writing was on the wall; 'Keep it moving, guys. Nothing to see at the Gallery tonight.'

I'd give it another shot sometime but, let's just say my expectations have been lowered like a limbo bar. Props for the free cover though - I would definitely recommend stopping by Planet Hollywood early in the day if you plan on coming here to acquire your free bracelet.
