Las Vegas Natural Attractions

Las Vegas is a vacation destination for party-goers and gamblers but it also has great Las Vegas natural attractions for nature-lovers! The following natural attractions in Las Vegas are ones that bring you away from the busy Strip and away from the regular desert landscape.

  • Lake Mead Las Vegas: Enjoy water sports and beaches at this refreshing man-made oasis in the middle of the desert created by the accumulation of water from the Hoover Dam. Find serenity in the gorgeous natural sights of the blue water and red rocks. And since it is just 30 minutes from the Vegas Strip this is one of the best natural attractions Las Vegas has for a fun family day trip.
  • Mount Charleston Las Vegas: If you thought you'd never find waterfalls, forests and flowers anywhere close to Las Vegas, think again. Just 35 miles northwest of Las Vegas is Mount Charleston, a beautiful mountain escape destination with all of the hiking, horseback riding, camping and skiing in the winter you could ever desire! Go to this Las Vegas attraction for ultimate departure from the lights of Sin City and the dry rocks of the desert.

Nevada Desert Parks

Nevada has some of the absolute coolest natural scenery around. The brilliant reds and browns of the desert rocks against the bright blue of the sky and the lush green that you find in many Las Vegas natural attractions is priceless. These are our favorite Nevada desert natural attractions in Las Vegas.

  • Death Valley Las Vegas: Some of the hugest attractions at this national park near Las Vegas are Dante's View, Zabriskie Point, Artist Palette, and Badwater Basin for their gorgeous desert views.
  • Grapevine Canyon: Well known for the amazing ancient petroglyphs - Native American drawings - at the entrance of the canyon, this is one of the best natural attractions Las Vegas holds for all travelers interested in Native American lifestyle and culture.
  • Valley of Fire: The gorgeous and often mesmerizing sandstone formations at the Valley of Fire keep visitors coming from all over.
  • Red Rock Canyon: The red rock of this eponymous canyon is a brilliant deep red that is startlingly beautiful against the clear skies in Las Vegas. A treat for photographers, hikers and tourists alike.

Grand Canyon Vegas

While many natural attractions Las Vegas holds are national parks where it's most common for people to go on their own schedules and find their own way around, the Grand Canyon is very near Las Vegas and has great tours! Here are our favorite Las Vegas tours at the Grand Canyon.

  • Grand Canyon Rafting Las Vegas: One of the absolute coolest ways to see the Grand Canyon is floating down the river at the bottom of it! Whether you want a motor boat, a boat you get to row, a one day trip or a two week trip, Grand Canyon Rafting is a great experience.
  • Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour: Enjoy a view of the Grand Canyon that most people can only dream of as you fly from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon in a helicopter and soar along the rim and to the canyon's floor! Enjoy a champagne picnic at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
  • Grand Canyon "Indian Country" Air Tour: Hop a plane to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas and enjoy learning all about Native American culture from a native Hualapai Indian. Stop at Guana Point for a great authentic Indian BBQ lunch on the edge of the Grand Canyon!
