New York New York Hotel Las Vegas Summary
Features: New York New York Las Vegas is one of the most prominent themed-hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. Top to bottom this Strip hotel mimics the Big Apple. From replica architecture to rooms named after areas of the city, walking into New York New York is like stepping out of the subway and into Manhattan.
Why We Stay: The New York New York has all of the entertainment one could desire as well, with dining, shows, gaming, and other things to do. You will never get bored here.
- Times Square Bar: The Times Square Bar is just as happening as the real location in New York City. Dueling pianos rock the stage nightly and make this one of the most popular venues in New York New York.
- Zumanity: The first and only adult Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas, Zumanity is a sexy and sensual show that still adheres to all of the creativity and skill that is requisite with these shows.
- Sporting House Bar & Grill: Every sports game you could imagine can be found on one of the gazillion TV's that are throughout the Sporting House, and the second floor is dedicated to arcade-type sports games.
Inside Knowledge: A free monorail will take you from the New York New York to the Excalibur, Luxor and the Mandalay Bay. These places might not seem far away in the scheme of things, but trust us, after a long night that monorail will seem like a godsend. For more Las Vegas coupons for hotels and entertainment, visit EarlyVegas for promo codes.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Ride the Roller Coaster: Formerly known as the Manhattan Express, this is one of the best roller coasters in Vegas. Wrapping around the facade of the New York New York, the coaster gives views of the Vegas Strip while speeding riders through drops and loops.
- Do Stop by Nine Fine Irishmen: Calling anything an authentic experience in Vegas might sound pretentious, but Nine Fine Irishmen is as close to a genuine Irish pub as you can get—the pub was actually built in Ireland and shipped to Vegas piecemeal.
- Don't Expect a Great Pool: While the New York New York does have a perfectly serviceable pool, it is often closed during the winter months, and it is not known as one of the best pools in Vegas.
- Don't Use the Room Phone: In the cell-phone age, who needs it? But if you do use the room phone to call outside the hotel, be prepared to pay a pretty hefty fee for your call.

New York, New York - No, it doesn't remind me of NYC, but that's fine
(Editor's Note: This review is for everything BUT the rooms at New York New York.)
While Paris Las Vegas may be just as kitschy as NY NY, I've never actually been to Paris, so if it is I'm slightly out of the loop. However, I grew up in the northeast and have been to NYC multiple times. There's absolutely nothing about NYNY that reminds me of the Big Apple (aside from the pretty amazing Statue of Liberty replica out front) - but that's actually just FINE in my book. Because I like almost everything about this hotel, even if it whiffs a little on the NYC atmosphere (in my opinion). As a friend said to me, "It is WAY too quiet in here to be NYC, they need to pump in the noise of taxi horns and people swearing to make this feel like New York."
So yeah ... this version of NYC is just fine by me.
Here's what I liked about NY NY: There are plenty of places to eat and drink in a small area. I'm not a complicated man, clearly. But NY NY is set up in such a way that there are at least four or five places to sit down and grab a drink, or enjoy a quick bite for not a ton of money. As luck would have it, I got to try just about all of them. (It's a tough job, but, someone has to do it.)
First, Nine Fine Irishmen does a pretty good impression of an old, dive-y Irish bar, only if everything was clean. Right down to having the Liverpool-Arsenal game on, Nine Fine was going for - and succeeding - in the dark Irish department. On the other hand, Gonzalez Y Gonzalez didn't quite know what it was going for; Mexican? Tex-Mex? I don't know. Luckily, they had plenty of TVs, great service and tasty nachos. Thumbs up!
The Bar at Times Square is an excellent bar once night arrives, and even before then it's pretty rad - check out The Sax Man on weekday afternoons! But after 8pm come the dueling pianos, and as a HUGE fan of dueling pianos, I can't imagine finding a better time on a Tuesday night than the one I enjoyed at The Bar at Times Square. (Highly recommended.) Finally, there's a small sandwich shop right behind Gonzalez Y Gonzalez that makes really good NYC-style sandwiches (though not quite as big - nothing beats NYC-Big) whose name escapes me. Definitely give it a shot though if you're looking for a quick and fresh lunch.
Oh, and then there's the Roller Coaster. You MUST ride this thing once - it's worth it for the views, alone.
The only real knock I have against NY NY is the sports book. It's small, the TV's are lame and it feels like it was thrown in at the entrance at the very last minute. Take your bets elsewhere.
To sum it up, no, NY NY doesn't eveoke any Big Apple nostalgia, but it DOES provide a great time. It's got a great design, and the building itself is pretty cool. Definitely worth a visit if you're on that side of the Strip.

New York New York Las Vegas - Thieves
Where it asks would I recommend this hotel to a friend, I must say absolutely, positively not. My very first night at the hotel, my father and I went down to the casino and the strip for a few hours starting at about 4 PM. I had brought enough money for me to be able to safely play for our three day trip, and I hid it in a book in my suitcase and placed that book under another book. I told my father out loud only in our room what I was doing in case I forgot where I had put the money. We returned at 10PM tired from the flight and our time in the casinos. The next morning, I went to replenish my money for the day, and I noticed that the books were reversed from what I had last left them. The wrong book was on top, and the money was gone. We searched the room and found no trace of the missing money. It is my opinion that it was an inside job and that some sort of listening device was placed in the room. Security came up to check and verify the report we made, and despite saying that ""these things tend to have a happy ending," nothing was done to either compensate or show that anything was actually being done. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, and I will personally never stay here again. My advice to travelers thinking about his hotel is to enter at your own risk. I only have an opinion of what happened, and based on my story, I will let you decide if you think I am right or wrong. The hotel and casino itself was not bad. The economy room reminds me of a slightly nicer courtyard by marriott, and the casino is about average size with normal games and several five dollar tables during the daytime. It would have been fine to have lost the money in the casino, but the fact that it was stolen out of my room made me spend most of my time elsewhere on the strip.

A Great Hotel for Any Occasion
New York New York in Las Vegas has an awesome theme and all around fun vibe that can easily accommodate all types of Vegas trips. During my visit I was traveling with a group of friends looking to party on a celebratory birthday trip, but there are also areas of the hotel completely suitable for families.
For people looking to party on at New York New York, I definitely recommend Coyote Ugly where girls can dance on stage with the fun and flirty workers. The flare bartenders will pour decently flavored alcohol into your mouth while on stage, and though the stage is for ladies only, guys will enjoy the fun of the show as much as the girls enjoy putting it on. It's a fun place to start out your night or end it.
New York New York not only provides a modern and fun atmosphere for the 21 and over crowd, but the hotel has a lot to offer families and children. For all age daredevils, I recommend taking a ride on the New York Roller Coaster. At $14 per ticket it's a little pricey, but it's a great rush and one of the best rides I've been on in Vegas. Also, going with the New York theme, this hotel has some of the best New York style pizza-by-the-slice in the street-mosphere area, which is the coolest parts of the hotel in my opinion. You'll feel like you're walking down a New york street, with steam coming from the faux sewer covers. All ages will dig the fake Big Apple and food prices near the indoor alleys are totally affordable.
Overall, New York New York may not be one of the most luxurious hotels on the Strip, but it's in an awesome location, has nice rooms, great family food and entertainment options and offers plenty of fun for an adult crowd as well.

A Fun and Affordable Place to Stay
New York New York Las Vegas has always been one of my favorite hotels on the Strip. I love unique skyline style exterior and the realistic inside alleyways. How cool is it that actual smoke comes out of the fake sewers! The Big Apple theme is something that everyone can appreciate. Plus, the roller coaster and arcade makes it great for the whole family. (That roller coaster, by the way, is something you definitely don't want to skip. Might not be worth $14, but it's definitely one of the better roller coasters I've been on.)
So if you thought New York New York was cool before, you should check it out now. The hotel's recent renovation was a complete success. The interior is now sleek and modern with a fun and youthful vibe in the casino. There are a bunch of trendy neon lights near the center bar, and even go-go dancers in the casino at night. Their new nightclub, Rok, added a much needed party atmosphere to the hotel. For the best pizza on the Strip, check out Sirrico's Pizza in the cool alleyway section of the hotel. The place doesn't look like much, but trust me and order a late night slice of pepperoni! I promise, you won't be disappointed.
The only downside to this hotel is the pool. It's right in between the hotel and a tall parking garage, so unfortunately it's only directly in the sun for a couple hours a day. Other then that I highly recommend New York New York. The rooms are nice, the theme is cool, it's in a great location and best of all the prices are cheap.

Ok for the price
Ok for the priceThe actual hotel is pretty nice - the atmosphere is great at night. Theres a few proper restaurants and quite a few smaller places to grab something easy. The rooms are a dissapointment though - pretty dated, the bed covers had ciggarette burns and stains, vents were comming of the walls and we were kept up at night by the sound of the ventilation systems. We were also dissapointed when we arrived that the rollercoaster was closed for maintenance - but then again we were relieved it was off as it turned out it was was right outside our window (can only imagine how noisy it would have been!). I would not be staying there again.

Decent for the price...
Decent for the price...We stayed here 4 nights in July, the rooms were okay, kind of small, but quiet. The pool was a disappointment-- very plain, but clean. The Room seemed very far away from the elevators, seemed like we were walking forever. Front desk staff were okay -- not friendly, not unfriendly. Some restaurant staff seemed a little arrogant. The location was great, the roller coaster almost beat the ones at the Stratosphere, it's a decnet place and won't cost you a fortune!

Great Room-Great Staff
I was pleasantly surprised at the service and accommodations! I arrived early in the morning and was given a choice to upgrade to a wonderfully large room that was very tastefully decorated. I did not hear the much talked about noise from the roller coaster. I found the front desk staff and the casino employees very helpful. I would not hesitate to stay at NY-NY again!

Nice place to stay while in Vegas
Nice place to stay while in VegasThe staff at the hotel is very friendly and the service was good too, the restaurants were good and moderately priced but you get alot of food for what you pay, the roller coaster was pretty amazing with cars in the shape of New York City taxi cabs. The rooms we had were nice and comfortable, outside of the little bit of noise in the hallways after midnight, but hey, it's Vegas, the city that NEVER sleeps.

I find what I expect here
This is where Gotham meets sin city. The lights are calling! This is the place to stay when your in Vegas. The NYNY Hotel has exciting places like the big apple bar. As well staying in the Broadway Deluxe is already luxurious enough so that is all about the New york New york Hotel and Casino.
