David Copperfield Las VegasEarlier this week the FBI raided magician David Copperfield’s and seized a digital camera system, computer hard drive, and nearly $2 million in cash, according to a local television station.

There was an investigation in Las Vegas and that investigators had been in contact with David Copperfield, but have not released any more details. That’s according to his lawyer and FBI spokespeople.

FBI Special Agent Robbie Burroughs said there was investigative activity Wednesday during the day and evening and said it was related to a pending Seattle case.

Copperfield warehouse, the International Museum & Library of the Conjuring Arts, is used to store illusions and magic memorabilia from around the world. The raid was reported by local station KLAS-TV.

David has been a longtime performer at the Hollywood Theater at the MGM Grand casino-hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, where he has performed in 6 to 8 week stints several times a year.

Copperfield’s attorney, David Chesnoff, confirmed only that his client had been contacted by investigators.

“We understand there is an investigation, are in touch with the investigators, and are respecting the confidentiality of the investigation,” he said.

David Copperfield is the master of illusion. If he can make an airplane or the Statue of Liberty vanish in thin air he can surely make himself scarce. If not his fat wallet should be able to make the charges disappear.
