Orleans Hotel Las Vegas Summary

FeaturesThe French Quarter-themed Orleans Hotel and Casino Las Vegas brings the charm of old New Orleans to the Nevada desert. With Mardi Gras running year-round, and more than 1,800 rooms decorated out of a modern, southern estate, the Orleans Hotel transplants guests to another world. One-and-one-half miles west of the Strip and less than five miles from the convention center, the Orleans Hotel is close enough to the Vegas attractions for an accessible Vegas vacation and far enough away from the bustle. It is also home to several restaurants and attractions that bring a taste of Louisiana, from the Crawfish Bar to Canal Street. Get in on the excitement of the South's best party city in the playground of Las Vegas. You can bowl at the 70-lane on-site alley or catch movies in the hotel as well. Check out the Orleans Hotel and Casino on your next trip to Vegas.

Why We Stay: Maybe it's that southern blood, maybe it's the voodoo curse, but we love New Orleans. We love the Orleans hotel on Tropicana Avenue even more, because at the hotel we get the best of two party worlds.

  • Mardi Gras: Why wait an entire year to go down south and fight through scantily-clad bead-hoarders when you can have Mardi Gras everyday? Our sentiments exactly.
  • Canal Street: Voted the best Steakhouse in Vegas by the editors of the Las Vegas Review Journal, and by us. If you want an amazing dinner, at reasonable prices with southern flavor, look no further.
  • Bowling, Movies and More: The Orleans Hotel Vegas won't be satisfied until it is a city unto itself. With a  70-lane bowling alley and 18-screen movie theater and a children's arcade, we can be sure of one thing -- we won't run out of entertainment.

Inside Knowledge: We don't like to catch cabs anywhere. Our money is better spent on the slot machines of the Orleans Hotel's 142,000 square-foot casino, and with their Club Coast, Player's Club our money goes even further. But when we want to go further, we thank the spirits of old New Orleans that the Orleans Hotel has a free shuttle to Bill's Gamblin Hall, right near the famous four corners on the Strip. We sure love a free ride.

Do's and Don'ts: Make your next trip to Vegas and the Orleans Hotel In Las Vegas perfect by following just a few words of advice from us. There are some things you should look forward to, and some things you shouldn't.

  • Do Catch a show: Whether you go to the 9,000 seat Orleans Arena, the 850-seat house venue, or a lounge show at Bourbon Street Lounge you can expect a great performance. Check the schedule to see the line up while you're in town.
  • Do Take the shuttle to the Strip: The Orleans might have enough to keep you occupied, but at least hit the Strip once while you're in Vegas, besides, it's a free ride -- there's no reason to stay in Louisiana, er, the Orleans Hotel.
  • Don't Flash people for beads: Seriously, don't get caught up in the moment and let the girls go. It's not the right place. If you or your friends are that drunk, you belong in your room, or at the Hard Rock Hotel.
  • Don't Eat at T.G.I.Friday's or Subway: We can't say this enough, but chain restaurants and fast food are best left for home. Yeah, they're in the hotel, but when you're in Vegas, take advantage of your options.

The Orleans Las Vegas - Hot outside, stay inside and Bowl at the Orleans Hotel

The Orleans is off the strip but is very affordable and family friendly. One of the coolest things about the property is they have a 70 lane bowling alley. It’s also open 24 hours! Great place to hang out in Vegas during the hot summer months.

Orleans Hotel Las Vegas - Great Place

I stayed here during a convention that the company I was working for put on.  The meeting space in this hotel is very nice.  The food at the hotel is great and the open courtyard feel is very cool.  The rooms were clean and nice.  All and all I'd say this place is a very nice little jewel off of the strip.

The Orleans

This was my first time staying at The Orleans. I've stayed at several other hotels on the strip but decided to change the pace. We stayed here because my sister has 2 kids and she wanted to bring them along, she researched it and it was a bonus! There was so much for the kids to do with an arcade, theater, bowling alley, kids Tyme, and a pool, it was an easy drive to the strip, great staff, comfy beds and spacious rooms....A must stay!!

Okay Hotel

We stayed at the Orleans to avoid the mess of the Strip, but the time it took us to drive to the strip, made us decide that the Strip is better because you can get to anywhere. The self parking at the Orleans was great, free and close to the door and I am sure we saved some money that way, but overall the hotel was just okay. The one thing that really stood out was the Spa. It had a whole different look than the rest of the hotel, which was on the tacky side. It is beautiful! The exercise room looks out at the pool area, there are urns with chilled bottled water everywhere, music playing, and the free locker has slippers, etc. for you to use. I guess I am writing alot about the spa because it was the one highlight of the hotel. The buffet was a good value compared to other buffets, but had a run down, nothing special atmosphere. The beds are just a 4" piece of foam over the box spring. Not a real mattress. I was okay with it but like a real mattress much better. We did call one night to housekeeping for extra pillows and they never came. Then I left a note for the maid for extra pillows the next day and still nothing. The money you save staying here isn't worth the aggravation to get to the Strip each day/night. I will stay on the Strip next time.

Not bad for the price

This hotel in our opinion was good. The rooms were nice, good sized, bathrooms were a decent size to for hotel standards. Everyone from the dealers, to waiters, to desk clerks were very friendly. The only negative I could say is that the two restaurants we tried were not the best, but o.k. Loved the 99 cent margarita's at the Mexican restaurant. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting something off the strip but with easy access to and from.

Orleans Hotel Las Vegas Restaurants

Coupled with Southern hospitality and old school charm, Canal Street serves up flavorful Cajun-style cuisine. Voted "Best Hotel Steak House in Las Vegas" by the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Dining Editors' poll, Canal Street tends to be a locals favorite.

Although Canal Street is tucked away in The Orleans Hotel and Casino, that doesn't mean it has to stay a local secret. Check out this Bayou-style bistro and try their luscious Louisiana crab cakes for a starter. Then we suggest the 21 day dry-aged prime rib for your entree.

Big Al's Oyster Bar Vegas in The Orleans Hotel and Casino is a traditional New Orleans eatery. As a casual and cozy place with Southern charm, Big Al's serves some of the best oysters in Las Vegas. However, oysters aren't the only thing that this restaurant offers.

We recommend starting out with a dozen oysters on the half shell and then progressing your meal by ordering the spicy jambalaya pasta entree or the shrimp scampi served in a creamy white wine sauce.

For families that can't agree on what to eat, a buffet is usually the best solution. The French Market Buffet at The Orleans Hotel and Casino offers a variety of international foods including Chinese, Mexican, BBQ and Italian stations.

Considering the hotel's theme, it's only appropriate that the buffet serve rockin Cajun food. The French Market Buffet is one of the best places to enjoy spiced seafood while your teenagers can happily munch on pasta. With a multitude of options, this all-you-can-eat feast is well worth the cheap price of only $14 a dinner.

Koji Sushi Bar and China Bistro at the Hotel Orleans combines two great culinary traditions.  This is a great place to go if not everyone in your party is sold on the idea of eating raw fish because the menu features both sushi and Chinese entrees. The atmosphere at Koji is trendy and fun thanks to port holes in the wall that display murals of sea creatures, in fact the entire restaurant kind of feels as if it could be a party themed submarine submerged under water.

The Prime Rib Loft at The Orleans Hotel brings the jazzy New Orleans spirit to the Las Vegas dining scene.  Diners with hearty appetites will enjoy the satisfying portions of prime cut aged beef, ribs, steaks, chicken, pastas, seafood and more.  Well seasoned American cuisine is served in a colorful mural clad dining room.  Pleasing to the eyes and appetite, this one-stop restaurant for flavorful fare is a meat-lover's dream with a side of variety.

Don Miguel's at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas serves traditional Mexican cuisine and delicious signature margaritas. Entrees include all the classics; tacos, enchiladas, burritos, nachos, and fajitas.  The margarita bar serves blended flavored margaritas, as well as mixed beverages and beer.  Watch fresh tortillas being made at the tortilla display, and enjoy the scenery with mural walls and a gorgeous reflecting ceiling.

Orleans Hotel Las Vegas Pools

The Orleans Pool has everything that a guest needs to enjoy the desert heat while remaining cool and refreshed. There is ample space for sunning, and two pools available when the sun becomes too much to bear. Also, the pool bar features a good amount of shade, and is ready to serve up any kind of cocktail that you can think of.

Kids will enjoy the separated wading pool and the plethora of pool toys that are available for rent. And the poolside food and beverage service makes spending the whole day at the Orleans Pool a viable option.
