Rio Las Vegas - big rooms and great service
My husband and I have stayed at the Rio several times. The room is big enough for our family of four and the Rio seems to comp more than other hotels. We both gamble and the hotel always takes care of us. They have even given us two free passes (2 night hotel stays) to give to friends. I was able to give my mom and her sisters two free nights in Vegas. It saved them over $300 and they had such a good time. Highly recommend the Rio.

Beware
BewareI know the rules are different in Vegas and we did fall victim to the deciept at the Rio. We were not informed of a 100.00 a day security deposit!! Which we negotiated down but then even after they took the money we couldn't use it for room service which was fine by me because I didn't want to give them anymore business. So make sure you ask about extra charges. There are plenty of places we found in Vegas that treat customers better than this joint. Harrahs needs to take a close look at better management for this particular establishment.

Rio is the worst
Rio is the worstI stayed at the Rio last weekend for a conference and it was hands down the worst experience I have ever had (and I travel a lot). It took 25 minutes to get help when I was checking in and I was the first person in line. The hotel oversold its rooms and even though I had prepaid for my room, they first informed me that I would have to go to another hotel but they eventually gave me a room that had many problems (a bathtub that had the tile torn up, a bathroom sink where the stopper was stuck closed, etc.). The worst thing, however, was that I woke up covered with bites from bed bugs. When I told the hotel upon checking out they did not seem surprised and were not willing to even offer a discount on the room. This hotel is scandalous and I wouldn't stay there again even if it were free.

Never Again
Never AgainMy wife and I stayed at the Rio for the first time in 2000 and we had a wonderful time. We have visited Las Vegas five times since then, and have stayed at various casinos. This month, September 2009, we decided to stay at the Rio again. What a difference nine years (and a recession) makes! First of all, it took several hours to actually secure a room, once we had checked in. The room we were given did not have a working safe, or a coffee maker. These are two amenities important to us and were lead to believe we would have them. Also, the show Masquerade in the Sky was now only showing Thursdays through Sundays (not every day like nine years ago), but it was also completely cancelled during the weekend that we were there. We never did get to see it. I stood in line for quite a while at the cashier’s counter to cash some traveler’s checks (clearly the casino was under-staffed), and when it was my turn to proceed, I was interrupted by a fellow who was a “silver card” member, which gave him priority. I feel that I pay good enough money at that casino to be treated equally, and not as a second class guest. All-in-all, the stay was a disappointment. Our pleasant memories have dissolved and we will not be back.

Nasty Rio
Nasty RioWe were so incredibly disappointed with the Rio. The furniture is old and stained and the comforter looked bad, not to mention the bed bugs that were present and no coffee pot available. The people in the casino and lobby were annoying, always coming up to you and asking about time shares. One of the pools was closed and there were beer bottles and garbage floating around the edge. There are several restaurants but they all are very pricey and a poor value. We wont EVER go back to the Rio...not even if it is offered free to us!

Rio - It Depends on You
Rio - It Depends on YouWe Stayed three nights in May and found the rooms to be average, at best. We Have stayed at this hotel three times in the past five years and the look of the rooms show quite a bit of aging. Housekeeping was terrific and should be complimented on their daily cleaning. We Chose to eat at other restaurants each day outside the hotel mainly because -- being off-strip -- we found ourselves elsewhere during the day. The Voodoo lounge is a great club and the casino is filled with entertainment, music and noise! If you are older and are interested in a quieter more upscale experience then this is definitely not the hotel for you.

Pretty Good Stay all in all
Pretty Good Stay all in allThe room was great and quiet with floor to floor windows. The great view I paid extra for was not available. The world famous buffet was not great. Only two live stations with soup being one of them in the summer was pretty lame. The floors in the buffet were a mess. But, everything else in the hotel was really fun. I would gamble somewhere else, because when we played at a non-Harrah's property we started winning finally. Stay for the rooms.

Not what was expected
Not what was expectedVery clean hotel and big rooms, walls seemed paper thin though, the check-in-out was a mess, very crowded and the staff seemed shorted. The Casino is small and gets very crowded and the ventilation system could be upgraded. The pool area was also crowded and the staff was also short, my wife and I waited 15 minutes to get waited on, The restaurants were really good especially the Italian and Oriental restaurants, the buffet was pretty impressive also. Would we stay here again? I would check all other possibilities first, then if I HAD to go back, I would.

Spring Break at The Rio Las Vegas!!!!
Just got back from our annual spring break trip to Vegas and this year we mixed it up a bit and stayed at The Rio. We were all a little low on funds and the room rates here were lower than any other hotel that we were considering. Can you say NON STOP PARTY for 5 straight days/nights??!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Luckily, nobody got into any serious trouble and we all made it back alive! Spring Break in Vegas ROCKS! Loved the hotel and the vibe that was going on while we were there. The Rio isn't exactly on the strip however we certainly did a good job of getting ourselves around without any complaints. Stoked on the poolside action, and stoked on the casino. Loved the Vodoo Lounge upstairs with it's unreal view and the beautiful guys that we met there! We have already planned another return trip to The Rio as soon as school gets out! VIVA LAS VEGAS BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rio All-Suite Hotel - A Las Vegas Casino Hotel
Rio is a great Las Vegas hotel. The price is right. The rooms are very spacious. The colors and decor are very relaxing and pleasant. The service is very efficient. There is a lot of actions and activities taking place at all time. The nightclub on the roof has an awesome view and is a very cool place. It was a very sweet stay. I recommend the Rio.
