Rio Las Vegas - big rooms and great service

My husband and I have stayed at the Rio several times.  The room is big enough for our family of four and the Rio seems to comp more than other hotels.  We both gamble and the hotel always takes care of us.  They have even given us two free passes (2 night hotel stays) to give to friends.  I was able to give my mom and her sisters two free nights in Vegas.  It saved them over $300 and they had such a good time.  Highly recommend the Rio.

Beware

BewareI know the rules are different in Vegas and we did fall victim to the deciept at the Rio. We were not informed of a 100.00 a day security deposit!! Which we negotiated down but then even after they took the money we couldn't use it for room service which was fine by me because I didn't want to give them anymore business. So make sure you ask about extra charges. There are plenty of places we found in Vegas that treat customers better than this joint. Harrahs needs to take a close look at better management for this particular establishment.

Rio is the worst

Rio is the worstI stayed at the Rio last weekend for a conference and it was hands down the worst experience I have ever had (and I travel a lot). It took 25 minutes to get help when I was checking in and I was the first person in line. The hotel oversold its rooms and even though I had prepaid for my room, they first informed me that I would have to go to another hotel but they eventually gave me a room that had many problems (a bathtub that had the tile torn up, a bathroom sink where the stopper was stuck closed, etc.). The worst thing, however, was that I woke up covered with bites from bed bugs. When I told the hotel upon checking out they did not seem surprised and were not willing to even offer a discount on the room. This hotel is scandalous and I wouldn't stay there again even if it were free.

Never Again

Never AgainMy wife and I stayed at the Rio for the first time in 2000 and we had a wonderful time. We have visited Las Vegas five times since then, and have stayed at various casinos. This month, September 2009, we decided to stay at the Rio again. What a difference nine years (and a recession) makes! First of all, it took several hours to actually secure a room, once we had checked in. The room we were given did not have a working safe, or a coffee maker. These are two amenities important to us and were lead to believe we would have them. Also, the show Masquerade in the Sky was now only showing Thursdays through Sundays (not every day like nine years ago), but it was also completely cancelled during the weekend that we were there. We never did get to see it. I stood in line for quite a while at the cashier’s counter to cash some traveler’s checks (clearly the casino was under-staffed), and when it was my turn to proceed, I was interrupted by a fellow who was a “silver card” member, which gave him priority. I feel that I pay good enough money at that casino to be treated equally, and not as a second class guest. All-in-all, the stay was a disappointment. Our pleasant memories have dissolved and we will not be back.

Nasty Rio

Nasty RioWe were so incredibly disappointed with the Rio. The furniture is old and stained and the comforter looked bad, not to mention the bed bugs that were present and no coffee pot available. The people in the casino and lobby were annoying, always coming up to you and asking about time shares. One of the pools was closed and there were beer bottles and garbage floating around the edge. There are several restaurants but they all are very pricey and a poor value. We wont EVER go back to the Rio...not even if it is offered free to us!

Rio - It Depends on You

Rio - It Depends on YouWe Stayed three nights in May and found the rooms to be average, at best. We Have stayed at this hotel three times in the past five years and the look of the rooms show quite a bit of aging. Housekeeping was terrific and should be complimented on their daily cleaning. We Chose to eat at other restaurants each day outside the hotel mainly because -- being off-strip -- we found ourselves elsewhere during the day. The Voodoo lounge is a great club and the casino is filled with entertainment, music and noise! If you are older and are interested in a quieter more upscale experience then this is definitely not the hotel for you.

Pretty Good Stay all in all

Pretty Good Stay all in allThe room was great and quiet with floor to floor windows. The great view I paid extra for was not available. The world famous buffet was not great. Only two live stations with soup being one of them in the summer was pretty lame. The floors in the buffet were a mess. But, everything else in the hotel was really fun. I would gamble somewhere else, because when we played at a non-Harrah's property we started winning finally. Stay for the rooms.

Not what was expected

Not what was expectedVery clean hotel and big rooms, walls seemed paper thin though, the check-in-out was a mess, very crowded and the staff seemed shorted. The Casino is small and gets very crowded and the ventilation system could be upgraded. The pool area was also crowded and the staff was also short, my wife and I waited 15 minutes to get waited on, The restaurants were really good especially the Italian and Oriental restaurants, the buffet was pretty impressive also. Would we stay here again? I would check all other possibilities first, then if I HAD to go back, I would.

Spring Break at The Rio Las Vegas!!!!

Just got back from our annual spring break trip to Vegas and this year we mixed it up a bit and stayed at The Rio.  We were all a little low on funds and the room rates here were lower than any other hotel that we were considering.  Can you say NON STOP PARTY for 5 straight days/nights??!!!!  UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!  Luckily, nobody got into any serious trouble and we all made it back alive!  Spring Break in Vegas ROCKS!  Loved the hotel and the vibe that was going on while we were there.  The Rio isn't exactly on the strip however we certainly did a good job of getting ourselves around without any complaints. Stoked on the poolside action, and stoked on the casino.  Loved the Vodoo Lounge upstairs with it's unreal view and the beautiful guys that we met there!  We have already planned another return trip to The Rio as soon as school gets out!  VIVA LAS VEGAS BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rio All-Suite Hotel - A Las Vegas Casino Hotel

Rio is a great Las Vegas hotel.  The price is right. The rooms are very spacious.  The colors and decor are very relaxing and pleasant.  The service is very efficient.  There is a lot of actions and activities taking place at all time.  The nightclub on the roof has an awesome view and is a very cool place. It was a very sweet stay. I recommend the Rio.

The recognizable magical duo are longtime staples in the Las Vegas magic scene, known mostly for their unique chemistry and magical skills. A Penn and Teller show is one part magic, one part comedy, and with a dash of insider knowledge. Penn and Teller have been know to give audiences a sneak peek behind the curtain when they reveal some of the magic community's most guarded secrets.

Rio Hotel and Casino Las Vegas Restaurants

Enjoy fresh caught seafood in middle of the desert at Buzios in the Rio Hotel and Casino. Everyday, this casual eatery has fresh fish flown in from around the globe, delivered to its door and prepared to order. Our recommendations at Buzios are the twin Australian lobster tails and the classic clam chowder, which rivals even that of the soup served in Boston.

Buffet lovers flock to the Rio's World Carnival Buffet for a huge array of international dishes at a wallet friendly price. Selections are constantly rotated for variety and present a fresh experience every time you visit the buffet.

Popular stations include the Teppanyaki station for Benihana-style Asian cuisine complete with a show. The indulgent gelato station features nine flavors of Italian treat that are sure to please.

Mah Jong is a convenient authentic Asian eatery in the Rio Hotel and Casino's food court. Known for quality food, it's also really quick easy. The speedy service makes Mah Jong perfect for those in a rush a catch a show. Our favorites affordable dishes at Mah Jong are the duck and BBQ pork. These huge portions will satisfy any appetite. Remember Mah Jong when you're buzzed and looking for some late-night munchies. It's open until 1am.

Voodoo Steak and Lounge Las Vegas will have guests believing in magic with it's powerful signature cocktails and exotic menu concocted of French-creole and Cajun-inspired steaks, seafood appetizers, sides and desserts. Fall under the spell of this mystical menu inside the voodoo styled dining room, or step out to the rooftop for a breathtaking view of the Las Vegas Strip. Escape the average eatery and step into the world of Voodoo Steak and Lounge for a dining affair to remember.

One of San Francisco's most celebrated Indian restaurants has a second location in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, which boasts the same succulent cuisine and elegant atmosphere as the original. Gaylord India Restaurant's menu features traditional dishes from the Northern India region like naan, lamb curries and masala.

Whether you come to McFadden's for their famous boneless wings, a cold pint or to watch the game on the flat screen, you're sure to enjoy the upbeat ambiance of one of Las Vegas' most popular Irish pubs. House specialties include traditional Irish fare like bangers and mash, Shepard's pie and fish n' chips.

Village Seafood Buffet Las Vegas at the Rio Hotel is one of the best buffets offered on the Las Vegas Strip! While only offering seafood, this favorite Las Vegas buffet serves as the perfect spot for those craving a meal of aquatic proportions. We recommend trying all the seafood options, but their lobster tail has a reputation as a customer favorite.

Rio Hotel and Casino Las Vegas Nightlife

The Voodoo Lounge is a nightlife experience like no other in Las Vegas. At the top of the Rio Hotel and Casino, the club has unparalleled views of the Vegas Strip and an unrivaled open-air dance floor from where club goers can admire that view, and get down to the top-40 music that the DJ's spin.

One of the best parts of the Voodoo Lounge is that is is an oft overlooked location when it comes to nightclub destinations. This means that there is rarely a long wait for entrance, and guests can focus on partying rather than waiting in line.

3.5

I-Bar is located right in the middle of the casino floor at the Rio Hotel and Casino. The venue is one of the more interesting concepts in Vegas, combining cutting-edge technology with a lounge environment. The touch tables at I-Bar allow guests to have an interactive experience with fellow patrons and staff.

Through the use of the touch tables at the I-Bar, patrons are able to order drinks from the bar, send messages to other guests, and play games and watch videos online—creating a fun and unique bar experience.

Rio Hotel and Casino Las Vegas Pools

Don't miss one of the hottest Vegas pools at the Rio Las Vegas!  VooDoo Beach Pool features sandy beaches, descending waterfalls, and luxurious cabanas for purchase!  Dance to the live DJ in one of the four indulgent pools or five sophisticated jacuzzi-style spas!
