Stratosphere Hotel Summary
Features: The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino is the tallest building in Las Vegas, and you can't miss the hotel's tower rising off the North Strip just two miles from downtown Las Vegas and the convention center. At the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas guests can stay, play and dine 1,000 feet above the streets of Sin City. The Stratosphere's nearly 2,500 hotel rooms range from the standard Vegas fare to luxury, and provide some of the best views of Vegas and the Sin City skyline. The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino also hosts fantastic dining, like the Top of the World Restaurant, thrilling rides, such as the Big Shot and X-Scream (both at the top of the tower), and fantastic shows, from the family-friendly American Superstars tribute show to the adults-only, sexy vampire revue, Bite. The Stratosphere is a one-stop, 113-story Las Vegas playground and home.
Why We Stay: Disregarding the comfortable rooms, the awesome eight-story pool complex and the perfect location for trips to the Vegas Strip, the Convention Center and Downtown, we're left with the obvious -- it's the tallest tower west of the Mississippi.
- Top of the World: A revolving restaurant that serves (albeit only decent) steaks, seafood and continental lunch and dinner is great, but this is also the highest restaurant in Las Vegas, which means the views are unrivaled. A Top of the World lounge features jazz and DJ's just off the observation deck.
- The Observation Deck: We're not going to sink any lower, but to say that while the Top of the World restaurant is fantastic, standing outside 1,000 feet above the Vegas Strip and (uncomfortably) high over the Vegas skyline is just, wow.
- The Big Shot Ride: No, 1,000 feet is not enough, we need to be zipped up that tower spike about 160 feet higher. And if that could be done in say, 2.5 seconds, that would be great. Yeah, it can be done.
Inside Knowledge: Sometime we just crave singing waitresses from the 50s. Remember that, how the waitresses in the 50s all used to sing? No? Well, at Roxy's Diner, a 50s style-joint, the servers all sing. Plus the restaurant is open until midnight, so it provides the perfect end to an afternoon of drinking. Whatever you do, don't go in hungover -- this place is deadly loud if you're having a rough morning.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Hit the pool: The eight-story Stratosphere hotel complex has a rock waterfall, volleyball nets and cabanas. A separate outdoor pool is for adults only.
- Do Catch a show: The sexy vamps of Bite are suitably located in the heights of the Stratosphere, but you can also hit Images to catch a cabaret or Vegas' newest dueling piano show.
- Don't Drink and ride: The roller coasters are high, and fast, and the last thing anybody wants is someone getting sick 1,000 feet above the Strip. Hold it in or ride sober.
- Don't Walk the Strip: If you are all about walking, then by all means trek away, otherwise hop across the street to the Sahara and catch the Monorail south. The Monorail is only worth it from this far North, because the walk is brutal.

Stratosphere Las Vegas - Not so good location but fair for the price
Stratosphere lived up to expectations but if you are looking to save a walk stay closer to the North end of the strip. not soo good location if you want to be in the action, not great neighborhood.

Stratosphere Las Vegas - Clean room, great price.
Very basic room- but it was clean, and the price and location was great. Its just the place when you don't want your hotel room to tap your funds for the rest of your Vegas stay.

Strat is nice!
I have stayed at the Strat March of 09 and loved it, I have been to Vegas a total of 3 times, first 2 visits not so good, but last years visit was great. The beds, OMG were soooooo comfy I spent one hole day just lounging around and relaxing in my big comfy bed. The room was very nice I like to say plush, bathroom had a TV in it, get this take a shower and watch TV, how cool is that..lol I seen the American superstar show that was fun, ate at the buffet. That was ok, what do you expect for a buffet :) I gambled a little not much luck but that's all good, wasn't there to gamble anyways. The lounge in the middle of the casino was great I spent alot of time there, lots of good music, great wait staff, comfy seating, and lots and lots of big screens for video or sports watching. I like the strat, and I am going back again this March I hope my visit this year will be as great as last years !

Not too bad
This hotel is on the Strip, but not at the best location, although the views were great, it was a little hard to get to and from place to place. The hotel and casino are also a little older but still nice. The room was pretty standard, but nice.We chose the jacuzzi spa room and a good choice it was, the beds were so comfy and big. Food was ok and the staff was pleasant.

Good for the money
When we arrived I requested a room in the new tower, which was not a problem. The room was large, and in good condition. The only complaint would be thin walls and long walks everywhere (garage, casino etc.). A car or cab ride is necessary because of the poor location (distance wise, and questionable neighborhood). If you have a cell phone, use it instead of the room phones, The rates are extremely high. We ate in the restaurant in the tower. It was very expensive, but the food and view were great. Just going up for a drink and the view would be nice and much less expensive. Overall, I would say the Stratosphere was a good deal for someone wanting an inexpensive room.

Girls days out
Went to Vegas with sister-friends. Except for the key that would not work on first room, everything was great. They were polite, room was clean, we felt safe. A tad far from the action on the strip. Long walk, take the deuce. Get driver named "smooth operator". Entertainment at his best.

Good hotel, good prices
Nice hotel with good prices if your on a budget, the views from the towers were really impressive, the food, overall was good at all the eateries, check-in-out, went smooth too. The walk could be pretty intense if you decided to walk to the strip, take the deuce and pay 1 price to ride all day, it will be well worth your money.

It's hit or miss at this place
The Stratosphere casino is awesome. Very low-key, comfortable, friendly feel. The limits are right, the space is great, the eating options are for anyone. Roxy's diner is fun when you get some employees singing, the poker room is good--friendly dealers and good tournaments--and a vast array of slots.
The downside is, at times, the hotel. The first time I stayed there I asked for two beds... they gave me one and wouldn't change it. I also found someone's airline itinerary and socks in there. The next two trips there--made because it's so cheap--were quite good.

Stratosphere Hotel Show Review
Comfortable, clean and spacious room. Helpful staff and free admission to the tower. Very good price/value. Nothing really to complain about this hotel. Maybe they could think about more charming furniture??? This hotel is located at one side of the strip; the main attractions are not really in walking distance but there is a bus that is next to the hotel that is very convenient to use.

The Strratosphere was a good, clean hotel to stay in
This is the first time that I have ever stayed at the North end of the strip. I am currently in Las Vegas on a biz trip and this was one of the hotels in our budget so we decided to give it a shot.
A nice thing about this hotel is having the monorail within a five minute walk from the hotel... For $5, it is a fast, efficient, and economical way to get around. I have found myself several times jumping on it, just to go over to another hotel/casino to get a quick bite to eat.
The pool area looks nice. I say "looks" because I haven't had any free time to throw on a bathing suit and relax out by the pool. Fortunately, the weather has been chilly so I'm not missing out on anything!
We did hit happy hour the last two nights in a row- From 5-8pm, $20, UNLIMITED ALCOHOL!!!!!! The only catch is that they only serve, margaritas, martinis and beer. We thought that this was the best deal in town!
Over all, The Stratosphere was a good deal for a clean and quiet hotel room.

THE STRATO
I picked this place to stay because when i looked online for places to sleep there wasn't much available. Apparently, some convention took most of the rooms along the strip. But, i knew of this place because i had gone to a party at the top about 8 years ago. All i remember about it was the cool rides at the top....this is what i thought would be a great adventure to add to our road trip to the midwest. The online price was awesome: 25% off AND 2 for 1 unlimited thrill rides!!! We had a blast. We didn't gamble, just played and drank!!! I would say the Stratosphere is a great value for what you get, not alot of frills, but tons of THRILLS!!!

Re: Stratosphere Hotel
After many visits to Vegas and staying at various hotels, we are always looking for a good deal... On our last visit we decided to stay at The Stratosphere, they offered an excellent rate for a Saturday Night stay. Our experience here was pretty good. The room was nice, clean, the bellman was top notch, the bartenders were efficient and friendly and poured great drinks.
The only bummer was that the only place to eat in the hotel after midnight is "Lucky's". The service was less than adequate in fact, it took 20 minutes for someone to even take our order and there were only two other tables being occupied at this time.
The location of this hotel is not the greatest. A cab ride to Caesar's Palace cost us $15 each way.
So if you are looking for a cheap place to stay, this hotel might be good for you. If location is what you want, I would recommend looking for somewhere else to stay.
