Las Vegas Transportation
What is the best way to get around Las Vegas?
There are many Las Vegas transportation options available and depending on what your itinerary entails, there’s an ideal mode for getting around. From one end to the other, the Las Vegas Strip stretches four miles long. While walking the Strip is fun and one of the best ways to truly experience the city, it can take up a considerable amount of time. Plus, some of the most popular Las Vegas hotels and destinations are not in walking distance from the center of the Strip such as downtown, the Palms Hotel and Casino, Red Rock National Park and the Hoover Dam. Try some of our favorite and most reliable ways of getting around town.
Las Vegas Monorails and Trams
Although the monorails and trams don’t go far distances, they can be an easy and more affordable way to get from point A to point B. There are four monorails and trams located on the Strip that provide quick access between hotels.
MGM Grand to Sahara Monorail
- Stations in between include: Bally’s/Paris, Flamingo, Harrah’s/ Imperial Palace, Las Vegas Convention Center and the Las Vegas Hilton
- Prices: $5 per ride, $14 for an unlimited one day pass and $30 for an unlimited three-day pass

Excalibur to Mandalay Bay Tram

Las Vegas Taxis
A taxi cab station can be found at virtually every hotel in Las Vegas, and it is an easy and quick way to get around the city stress free. It’s especially nice after several stiff cocktails. However, cab fares can add up quickly. In order to save some Las Vegas transportation cash, we suggest walking or utilizing the monorail and trams whenever possible.
Know Before You Go:- Up to five people are allowed in a cab.
- It is illegal for cabs to be hailed on the Strip. You must pick one up at a designated taxi station.
- All taxi meters begin at $3.20.
- Every mile costs an additional $2.00.
- If stuck in traffic, the meter will charge $.25 every 41 seconds that the cab is not moving.
- From the south Strip to downtown Las Vegas: $15.00 - $20.00
- From the south Strip to the north Strip: $10.00 - $15.00
- From McCarran Airport to the center of the Strip: $12.00 - $15.00
- From McCarran Airport to downtown Las Vegas: $17.00 - $21.00
Las Vegas Limos and Party Buses
For a more stylish ride, cruise down the Strip in a Las Vegas limo or a party bus. Las Vegas limos provide a more classy and sophisticated way of arriving at a fine-dining restaurant or trendy nightclub. Depending on the company, Las Vegas limos run around $100-$150 for the night. Not bad, if you split the cost between friends.
Perfect for bachelor/bachelorette parties, a large Las Vegas party bus can hold up to 40 people and typically features a cool color changing disco floor, leather seats, stripper poles and your choice of music. Start popping bottles in the bus before hitting up the club.
Las Vegas Rentals
If your considering one of the many amazing day trips Las Vegas has to offer like the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead or the Grand Canyon, renting a car would be your best bet. Plus, Las Vegas rentals provide you with reliable transportation during your whole trip. If you plan on taking cab rides in Vegas often, then Las Vegas rentals will probably end up saving you money.
