Riviera Hotel Las Vegas Summary
Features: The Riviera Hotel and Casino is located towards the northern side of the Las Vegas Strip, just past the Wynn and the Encore. Known by locals as "The Riv", this hotel and casino has a lot of history. It was one of the first hotels to be built during Vegas' boom in the 1950's. Rooted in the tradition of offering guests quality entertainment and accommodations, it has remained a popular Las Vegas hotel.
Why We Stay:
- Old Vegas: The Riviera is one of the few old Vegas properties left on the Strip, but it has been updated with modern amenities to make it comfortable and historic.
- Crazy Girls: As longest-running cabaret performance with showgirls in Las Vegas, this topless-revue is still one of the most notorious and best.
Inside Knowledge: The Riviera has a relatively long and storied history including a stint in the 60's and 70's as a renowned mobster-owned hotel. Several very popular films about Vegas were shot here such as "3000 Miles to Graceland", the original "Ocean's 11" and Martin Scorsese's "Casino."
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Go to the Comedy Club: There's never a dull moment inside the Riviera Comedy Club, where some of the best comedians perform their acts, keeping audiences rolling in the aisles.
- Don't Expect a Strip Hotel: Like we said The Riv is a part of old Vegas, and is not going to offer all of the same attractions that the newer hotels on the Strip do. Also, it is a pretty long walk from its location on the north end of the Strip to the middle of the Strip, so be prepared to take a cab.

Riviera Las Vegas - Stay at own risk
I started staying at this hotel in 1992 when I came for my first National's pool tournament and have stayed here at least 15 times. My husband and I were coming to visit our daughter and grandkids; we stayed at the M Resort for the first two nights and wanted to stay one night on the strip so he could play cards at slots of fun. We haven't stayed here in a couple of years so I didn't use my player’s card to book the room. Went online and the rate was $34.00, I later received a schedule with the rate for this night at $25.00. When we checked in the hotel I ask the person at the front desk if they would give us this rate and was told NO, not I can't do that or let me check (just a flat and not very nice NO) I had misplaced my players card and went to get another one and the person at the players desk was all friendly and chatty with the man in front of me and when it was my turn her whole mood changed. I ask about some points that I was told would still be on my card and was told that they would be added back after a full days play. When we checked out I was charged a $7.95 or something like that resort charge. I told them I was not told about the charge and they just said it was on the information when I booked the room (this charge was never on my total when I booked the room). If you’re going to charge a resort charge it should be included in the total amount of your charge when you book. They would not take this charge off my bill; it is not listed as a resort it is listed as the Riviera Hotel and Casino. The worst part of this whole trip was that my husband got bit by something there and his hand swelled up three times the size of his other hand, he didn't tell me until we were at the airport and by the next morning when we were home he couldn't make a fist. He went to his doctor and was sent to an Infectious Disease doctor because the infection was going up his arm. They gave him an IV antibiotic and he has to go everyday for ten days to receive IV therapy for the bite. This use to be a good place to stay with good customer servie but now has just turned into a dump we never want to visit again. SPEND A LITTLE MORE MONEY FOR YOUR SAFETY AND STAY AT ONE OF THE NEWER HOTLES

Unsafe Dangerous Beware
Unsafe Dangerous BewareI had an absolutely abhorring experience here, this "hotel" is scary dangerous and unsafe! I was continually harassed catcalled with degrading remarks BY HOTEL EMPLOYEES! I filed a report with "security" who was untrustworthy and physically pushed me around. Please be safe and don't stay here! Some of my belongings are still missing and they will not help me to recover them. I have not been refunded for the unused portion of my stay and surprise surprise they're being completely uncooperative. STAY AWAY!!

First time experience
First time experienceOur first trip to Las Vegas and was booked in at the riviera. The check in was long and we had a hard time finding the registration desk upon arrival. The room was nice, clean. We had a nice time in the casino and didn't take long to find our way around. Now that we know some things we would probably not stay at the riviera again mainly because we would like to see if we would have a better experience at another hotel/casino in the future.

a good value for a strip "resort" hotel
a good value for a strip "resort" hotelThis is a good "value" resort. it's old but big and well kept.it has plenty of shows, plenty of decent restaurants from a fast food court to higher-end places.the casino is uncrowded. it is currently isolated on the northern fringe of the strip so you wanderers need a car or enjoy walking or using the bus.at least the property is not set back from l.v.blvd. so you are only a few steps from the sidewalk.a plus for Catholics is a short walk to the cathedral.

Not bad, but not great either
Not bad, but not great eitherThis hotel was built in 1955 and it doesn't look like they have done any updates since then, the rooms are not that great and are in need of a big face lift, the staff was kinda rude also, which didn't go over well with my wife at all. The casino was nothing to talk about and the food was just average. If your looking for a romantic get-a-way, this isn't the place for it, noisy also, needless to say we won't be going back to the Riv anytime soon.
