Las Vegas, of course, stands for the overwhelming bling-bling of the world-famous Strip with its mega-hotels, the round-the-clock mega-entertainment and the endless ding-ding of the slot machines. But the city in the USA also stands for a lot of love. In the American stronghold of marriages, "Yes!" is said 120,000 times a year. That's more than 10,000 ceremonies a month. And some of them are pretty spectacular.

1st drive-through wedding

Tie the knot once and fries red and white, please! That's pretty much how I imagine a drive-through wedding in Las Vegas. Crass? No, in the land of drive-through cleansing, flu shots and dog grooming, merely consistent. In the Little White Wedding Chapel, where Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow said yes to each other, as well as Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, 35 percent of the ceremonies are currently booked as drive-through in the "Tunnel of Love".

The wedding window is open 24 hours a day. Cost: 75 US dollars. The inventor of the automobile marriage ceremony and owner of the chapel, Charolette Richards, feels God has called her to her job and advises: "Never marry the person you can live with, but only the person you can't live without."

If marital problems do arise, never mind, I'm sure Americans will soon invent the drive-through divorce.

2. to shoot: Wedding at "The Gun Store"

Taking the cake when it comes to unusual marriage ceremonies is "TheGun Store". Here you can get married at a private shooting range and fire a few shots of joy afterwards. Those who book a VIP package can even do so with a machine gun. As long as you haven't shot yourself in the knee with your choice of partner, the party afterwards is sure to be (attention, hi hi) a blast!

3rd Pirate Wedding on a Ship

If getting married feels like walking the plank, you can symbolically express that feeling by booking the ceremony on the pirate ship of the famous Treasure Island Hotel & Casino. Ship Ahoy!

Tip: Those who order the "Enchantment" package will be presented with the rings by a pirate, har!

4. kitsch with the king

If the father of the bride is not present at a spontaneous wedding, no problem, the King himself can escort the bride-to-be down the aisle. The look of the "Graceland Wedding Chapel" is kitsch as kitsch can, based on Elvis' famous mansion. Delightful for the ironic and the irony-free alike.

My husband and I renewed our vows here, serenaded by the excellent Elvis double. Depending on the package booked, there are two to five songs. "Elvis is not the only rocker here, by the way: Jon Bon Jovi and Billy Ray Cyrus also tied the knot in the "Graceland Wedding Chapel".

5. i do at the grand canyon

If all the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas is too much for you, I advise you to say "I do!" in front of the unique backdrop of the Grand Canyon. A variety of professional providers fly the marriage candidates by helicopter to what is probably the most breathtaking wedding location in America. Ideal for those who want to celebrate in a small circle (usually there is only room in the helicopters for the couple, two other guests and the minister), but still spectacular.

6. a union like Bonnie & Clyde

You can have agangster-style wedding in Las Vegas at the "Mob Museum". In the historic and beautiful former courthouse, where real gangsters were once sentenced, you can celebrate with up to 150 of your favourite usual suspects and afterwards stroll privately through the impressive exhibition.

The Mob Museum, officially the National Museum of Organised Crime and Law Enforcement, offers plenty of cool selfie backdrops. Perfect for all those for whom marriage means life.
