The Quad Las Vegas Summary
Features: The Asian-themed The Quad Resort & Casino, centrally located on the Las Vegas Strip, is smart, regal and a little kitsch. The dining at The Quad suits any taste or budget, from Burger Palace's breakfast and fast food to Ming offering fine Asian dining.
The 2,640 rooms are similar, from simple to elegant, and the gaming ranges from upscale to kitschy -- don't be surprised if your table host, dressed like Michael Jackson, steps away to perform Bad or Billy Jean. At the spa you can let all the excitement of Las Vegas and the The Quad Hotel Vegas wash away in eucalyptus rooms, redwood saunas or green-tea-scented showers.
Why We Stay: There is a lot of fun to be had at the The Quad Las Vegas, despite the sometimes sterile and elaborate Asian patterns that are slightly reminiscent of a museum tapestry that screams "don't touch." The Quad also boasts one of the most central Strip locations for the most affordable price.
- Dealertainers Pit: If it weren't enough that Elvis, Dolly Parton or Alice Cooper were dealing cards (along with more than 20 other celebrities), they occasionally step away from the table for a performance. Unforgettable fun.
- Shangri-la Pool: The pool itself is a little on the boring side -- it's no mythical Asian paradise -- and wading isn't even allowed in the waterfall pool. But, if you get a poolside, second floor room, you can pull a chair over and have your own private lounge area.
- Auto Collection: At the back of the The Quad Vegas is a free auto museum, full of amazing classics to drool over. You can also purchase a car or two if you win big; after visiting, you'll want one.
Inside Knowledge: The Spa at this moderate and affordable hotel is pretty top-notch. With special treatments, like the bio-freeze, deep-relief cryotherapy or the Lady's Head to Toe Combo, a body wrap and mini-facial in one. Couples can get side-by-side care, and there is a co-ed fitness center in the Spa as well.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Party at the Rockhouse: Known for overturning every taboo within legal limits, the sexy bar girls and party crowd of the Rockhouse strive to make the night over-exciting. They come pretty close.
- Do Visit the King's Ransom: A collection of rare Elvis memorabilia is visiting The Quad through 2010. If you miss it, be sure to find out what temporary exhibit is up, but don't miss it.
- Don't See a show: While the Japanese-inspired Matsuri is pretty cool, and the impersonators of Frank Marino's Divas are top-notch, you're better off spending a few hours at the Dealertainers Pit -- where you get gaming and a show.
- Don't Eat Breakfast: Save the room, if you plan on eating at Hash House a Go Go (you should) then you'll need the room. The giant portions are only made better by the creative presentation and delicious combinations.

The Quad Las Vegas Guest Rooms
Capri Room
The capri rooms are simple and sparsely decorated. Don't expect much furniture or anything on the walls, but they are a little classier than the Motel 6-style basic rooms. It's cheap enough, so make the upgrade, at least you'll get a little more space.
Deluxe Luv Tub Room
Like the classically decorated, golden-hued Deluxe Rooms but with a little more flair. There's a mirror over the bed and a Roman tub perfect for Luv in the large bathroom.
Deluxe King Suite
The King suite may be sweet, but it's got nothing on the Deluxe King Suite -- suited for an Imperial Prince or two. It might not be the biggest in Vegas, but with connected sleeping and grand sitting area with oriental trim wooden furniture and golden fabrics sweeping across the room, it's got enough elegance to feel like a throne room.

The Quad - Can't beat the price
The first two times I visited Las Vegas, I stayed at The Quad. While this may speak to my financial situation (I'm young - gimme' a break!), the fact that I returned to this hotel also speaks to the fact that The Quad isn't a bad option if you're on a budget.
The rooms are pretty plain and the TV's are tiny, but the room itself is actually a pretty decent size. Also, each room has a small porch that (creepily) peers into the hundreds of other rooms at The Quad. (Here's a tip: Keep your blinds closed at all times.) The second time I visited, I actually had a room/porch facing the pool - unfortunately, it was November, so the pool was closed. But I imagine this would be a great room in the middle of the summer.
The service at The Quad is actually pretty great. I arrived at The Quad at 3:30am (I'm always up for an impromptu road trip) and the wide-awake desk attendant greeted me as if it were noon. She hooked me up with an early check-in discount - I think it was about $20 to check into my room more than 16 hours ahead of schedule - and my buddy and I hit the still-going Geisha bar on the casino floor before calling it a night... errr... morning. (This wasn't an aberration, either; on my first visit I was handed a free coupon book that I took mild advantage of by a different gentleman at the desk.)
I will say that the The Quad casino is old and downright depressing. I think it has to do with the carpets and the lighting, both of which remind me of being a kid and visiting my grandparent's house. The Dealertainers show is fun if you stumble on to a particularly good performer - I've seen Lady Gaga twice and was entertained and impressed both times. However, I'm definitely 'in the red' when it comes to blackjack at The Quad, so I have to give the casino a thumbs down overall. (Though I would give the karaoke lounge where I absolutely destroyed Weezer's "Say It Ain't So" a huge thumbs up.)
Finally, the buffet isn't very good, but at $20 I gave it a shot and ate a fair amount. What can I say - you get what you pay for.
With that mantra in mind, the two best things about The Quad - location and price - are what keep me coming back. You're right on the Strip across from more coveted hotels like Caesars Palace, and there's a billion things to do within walking distance. Plus, in 5 nights total at The Quad, I've never paid more than $28 a night, which is simply unheard of.
Overall, I have to recommend The Quad based on price, location and customer service. If you're on a budget, this place is a perfect option.

stay in Tower 5
Although it’s one of the older hotels on the strip, it’s affordable and comfortable. My one recommendation is to stay in the upper level of Tower 5 (facing away from the strip). The elevators are slow throughout the hotel but Tower 5 has some hidden elevators behind the Keno desk where you will never wait. You may still experience some strip noise in the room but I rarely spend that much time in my room when I’m in Vegas.

Imperial Palace Las Vegas - Imperial Oh NO!!
Okay Imperial it is time for an upgrade! from the lobby to the hallways it has the most stale odor that Lysol won't even cover up! stains everywhere, room rate was great but only for convention reasons. awesome location but def. needs to compete with surrounding hotels that have much more class and pizazz! only stayed one night but won't return.

Imperial Palace Las Vegas - Great Price/Location but a bit run down looking.
The place looked a little run down- in terms of linnens and carpets, but you can't beat the price and location. Had a voucher for the buffett which turned out to be pretty good.
