Luxor Las Vegas Summary

Features: The Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas resides on the south side of the Strip, and is easily identified by the large beam of light that shines from the top of the Luxor's pyramid. That light is a beacon for Vegas party-goers, as the action never stops inside the Luxor Las Vegas Hotel.

Why We Stay: There are a number of favorite Las Vegas entertainment options at the Luxor Hotel in Vegas, from venues that will keep you up all night to places to work off your hang-over at.

  • LAX Nightclub: LAX is one of the most popular clubs in Las Vegas. It's easy to see why since the club is notorious for serving strong drinks and playing the best dance music in Las Vegas.
  • Menopause the Musical: You can take your mom, your wife, or your girlfriend to this one! Although, we hope for your sake you don't have to take your girlfriend to this, that's a lot to take in if you're a young couple! This musical has all the ladies laughing and by the time it's over, it's like the whole female audience has bonded. How sweet.

Inside Knowledge: If you are coming to the Luxor Las Vegas to gamble then you'll want to check out the poker room. Here, you'll find one of the most popular poker rooms in Las Vegas. It offers daily no-limit hold'em tournaments with a buy-in as low as $35.

Do's and Don'ts:

  • Do Recover By the Luxor Pool: The Egyptian-theme extends to the Luxor pool in Las Vegas, where guests come to relax, refresh and restart the party during the daytime.
  • Do Learn From the Free Gambling Lessons: Let's be honest, not all of the games on the casino floor are easy to understand. That's why the Luxor Hotel Las Vegas offers free lessons for craps and roulette that will teach you how to play.
  • Don't Get Coffee on the First Floor: On weekend mornings lines for the Las Vegas Starbucks by the check-in are insane. Walk upstairs to the second Starbucksfor you caffeine fix, where the line is usually just a few people deep.
  • Don't Book a Room in the Pyramid: If you can, book a good Las Vegas hotel room in the tower. They have more space compared to the Pyramid rooms that are cut down by the abrupt angles of the architecture.

Love the Luxor

Ever since I was younger, I would come visit my buddies dad out in Vegas. He lived about 15 minutes away from the strip so we would always sit out in his backyard and look at the Luxor light. I have always had a fascination with the Luxor. Little did I know how much fun I would have one of the best nights ever when I was old enough to partake in its activities.

We checked in and immdiately took our stuff to our room. The rooms were nice but we didnt spend much time in there. I wanted to try out some of the things in the Luxor before we went out. Tacos and Tequilas has the best guacamole ever. We sat and drank beer there for about an hour and then went to Titanic and Bodies exhibits. Both were super fun and well accommodated the group we had. Walking around, I stopped and gambled a little bit before going to eat dinner at Rice and Company. The best sushi rolls ever. The service was great. I think the waiter new almost as much as the chef when it came to menu items. He even took a group photo with all of us.

The Criss Angel show was hilarious. I still want to know how he cut that girl in half and how he tamed all those pigeons to come back after they flew over us. LAX VIP service is out of this world. Our waitress always kept our drinks full, the security was super friendly (also took a group photo for us.) Darth Vader made a surprise appearance and served the DJ a bottle. All in all, we had a blast. All the years of wanting to go to the Luxor and have fun on actual grounds was exactly what I expected. If you are ever lost and need to find fun in Vegas, just follow the light, it will lead to you to the best hotel and the most fun on the strip.

Luxor--fun stay, great deals!

I had an awesome stay at Luxor. I stayed in the tower rooms and they were really nice and seemed new. It was awesome that booking through their link I got on twitter: http://bit.ly/Qch965 I was able to book for the best rates I could find anywhere on the strip. In addition the deal I booked under gave me food and beverage credit. The restaurants at Lux are great! I used my credit on sushi at Rice&Co.
The most outstanding thing about my stay was the service. Although I used the hec out of the coupon booklet I was given at check-in, everyone in the hotel treated me as if I was a special guest. Even at the pool all of the servers were so nice and attentive. the pool was great by the way. It was quieter than others I have been to on the strip and I was actually able to relax and get in the water without fear of getting a disease.
The exhibits at Lux were also a lot of fun. Bodies and Titanic are must-sees!

Wonderfull!

We were getting married and decided to stay at the Luxor and we were definitely impressed! The hotel itself was clean, the staff was nice and helpful, and the price was unbelievably cheap. We got an upgrade to the West Tower Deluxe room via a promo code we found online. The food court was nice but really expensive. So we went and got a 2 for 1 all day buffet deal (for both the Excalibur & Luxor hotels) that they had going on and saved money. The hotel connects to both Mandalay Bay and the Excalibur which we found rather neat but tiring on the legs. The moving walkway between Excalibur and Luxor was neat also but not long enough in our opinion...LOL.  I don't know why some folks are upset about the lighting but we found it perfect. Too many hotels are so brightly lit that your eyes hurt- not the case here. Our room was spot on and immaculate- especially the bathroom! Be forewarned though- our toilet was so powerful it scared the you know what out of us the first time we used it! Sounded like a turbojet engine taking off ....lol... whoa. I'm pretty sure that was just our room and not the standard but geesh! Black holes have less power to be sure! Or king size bed was marvelous. The view was awesome too. It wasn't noisy at all but that may be because we stayed on a weekday. Don't know what it is like on the weekends.

The common area(s) in the West Tower- absolutely beautiful!!!! Marble flooring and carpet EVERYWHERE.  Mirrors and Egyptian designs abound - even in the elevators. You really get a sense of 'class' for sure just walking around in the towers.

The pyramid though was really dark and kinda hard to see but we only saw a little bit of it (mainly because we got lost several times going to our room). HEADS UP= getting around the Luxor casino to the rooms can be tricky because it is confusing. But apart from that little inconvenience, this place was terrific and we will be coming back as soon as we can!

Luxor is great

Luxor is greatOk after reading some of these reviews (after we booked the Luxor) I was really worried. We have stayed at Caesar's Palace and Venetian on prior trips to Vegas. This trip was a spur of the moment thing so we wanted to save some money. The Luxor had a great all inclusive package going on! Yes the hotel is older and not as "nice" as say Caesar's, etc. but our room was clean...the food was good and check in was a breeze for us. Everyone was really friendly the whole time we were there. We stayed in the basic Pyramid room and it was fine. We had a comfortable bed and a tv with cable. I mean, it's not like you spend a whole lot of time there anyway! I just want people to know that if high class is what you want, then stay elsewhere, but if you want a nice clean hotel with pretty scenery and good restaurants, etc. for a good price then try Luxor!

Luxor Las Vegas - Nice hotel

Nice hotelMy husband and I stayed at the Luxor this passsed weekend. This was the 1st time either of us had ever stayed here. We got a great all inclusive spa suite package deal online. We arrived an hour late from their 3 pm check in. The lady told us that are room wasn't ready and it would be 2 hours. WHAT? But she immeditelly accomodated us. She took off 2 nights of resort fees and put us in a non smoking spa suite. Here was the problem. My husband is a train. Which I told her that. She told us no problem I will send up an ashtray. Thought that was kinda strange but ok. We really weren't in the room much. The More Buffet was GREAT. We had ate at the Tropicanas buffet earlier that day and it was aweful. Food was old. My only complaint was the shower is tiled and the grout had black mold growing in it. We never had a chance to tell them until we left. Also I would suggest that if you're a coffee drinker. Ask them to put a coffee maker in your room. The Starbucks in the Luxor is ridiculously priced. My husband drink that he normally gets was $2.15 more than what he normally pay. $7.10 is a little crazy for a coffee. Other than that it was a great hotel.

Great place!

The Luxor was terrific. We’d stayed at Treasure Island for the first three days of our trip and it was nice but just your basic hotel room. Upon our return to Vegas after visiting the Grand Canyon, we dropped into the Luxor without a reservation and, while they had no rooms the first of the three nights we wanted to stay, they called two other hotels and provided options to me. Very helpful! I booked for the remaining two nights and was offered a standard room at $50/night or we could upgrade to a Spa Room for $100 a night. The Spa room was amazing, basically a two room suite with a huge jacuzzi tub right by the window. Very nice room, I was very satisified. The hotel’s location is perfect, right on the strip and walking distance to just about everything. The parking was free and easy to navigate (as it was with Treasure Island). I really couldn’t believe how easy it was to get around Las Vegas, even the Strip wasn’t traffic-heavy as I was expecting. I loved Las Vegas and I look forward to staying at the Luxor again. I didn’t gamble a single penny and there was no lack of fun things to do there.

Poor staff...

Poor staff...The Luxor is a decent hotel. We were high up in the pyramid and it wasn't bad. The rooms are a little gloomy (you really DO feel like you are in a tomb), the lighting could be a little brighter, the furniture had seen better days but we didn't go to Vegas to be in the room long anyway! The restaurants were a little expensive, but the buffet was reasonably priced. The only BIG problem we had was the staff. They knew nothing about anything other than what they were doing at that minute, we thought that for the price and the status of this hotel, all staff should be polite and helpful. We had a good time regardless, but the staff brings my rating down to 3 stars.

Needs a facelift

Needs a faceliftI stayed at the Luxor this past weekend because we got a really good deal on our room, it was small, even though we upgraded to a bigger room, I would hate to see what the small room looks like cause the bigger room was pretty small. The walls are thin and you can hear whats going on all over...the best part of the hotel was the pool and the casino...which was paying pout big time!. The Luxor, I think needs a face lift....it is way over due for this classic hotel.

construction in hotel a nusance. Room dimly lit. Bed sheets smelled badI have stayed at several hotels next to the Luxor and none of which had obstructions to room access. Room bedding smelled of cigarette smoke in a "non-smoking" room. The inclinators were another annoyance. The front desk did not instruct visitors how to use the inclinators. We found out from other visitors and we in turn instructed others during the course of the day. Direction signs for the first and second floor are needed. The casino and food areas are like a maze. One wrong turn and you are going the wrong direction or you are going back the way you came. We were expecting more from a very well known landmark and resort. I am sorry but I cannot recommend this hotel at this time and do not expect to return to this hotel.

Great plae to stay on the Strip for the money

Me and my wife chose this hotel based on the rates and location. We also upgraded the room to a suite for an extra $25 a night. It was worth twice that.

The room consisted of a living/bar room complete with sofa television and fridge (one that wasn't full of expensive bottles of water - so you could actually store stuff in it). - The Bedroom was a king bed also had a television end tables and plenty of room. - The bathroom was a decent size, it had his and her sinks, a jetted bath tub and separate glass shower.

The hotel itself is very easy to navigate and offers everything you'll need. The casino is one of the smaller ones on the strip but it still has all of the games. There also is a food court in the hotel not to far from the rooms. And an array of clubs which I will also review.

Luxor is connected to Mandalay Bay through the Mandalay Bay shops which has more place to eat and leads into the larger Mandalay Bay casino. Luxor is also located not to far from the Excalibur. There is a free tram off the front entrance that will also save you a few steps to both of those hotels.

As far as the Luxor goes I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone who is not looking for extreme luxury and looking for a good deal on the strip.

Good already rebooked

I just came back from my first visit to Vegas .. so many hotels to pick from and I made a great choice with the Luxor. Yes, there are glitzier hotels .. but for the money it is great. Loved that you can walk from one hotel to another. I spent 4 days sort of just watching people, gambling, seeing shows .. If you enjoy gambling .. you should try this place .. lots of tables and machines to choose from and the casino staff is really great. I was fortunate enough to have my 4 nights comped as well as a great dinner and to my surprise a limo to the airport .. Even took home more money than I arrived with .. What more can a gal ask for on a first visit? I have already booked another visit for a week .. more to see ..

Luxor Las Vegas - stay in the Tower

I have stayed at the Luxor twice.  Both time have been great.  There is just one suggestion to stay in the Tower instead of the Pyramid.  The elevators in the Pyramid are called inclinator (go up diagonally instead of up and down) and although I don't get sick on roller coasters this made me feel queasy.  I dreaded every time I had to go to the room.  The tower rooms are just as nice and you can avoid any aversion to the "special" elevators.

LUXOR is ok, but not luxurious

I didn't have an awful time, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. We stayed in a room in the pyramid our first night and the ceiling was incredibly low - felt like the walls were closing in on us...we asked to change rooms, the staff accommodated us. So, the second night we stayed in a tower room - much easier to relax, but still not nearly as nice as most of the other hotels on the strip. However, it was on the cheaper side and who really spends that much time in their room when in Vegas? Most importantly, the bed was comfy... past that, we was out partying and gambling. The casino was just ok, but I usually prefer to gamble in the MGM. We didn't get a chance to check out the pool, but it looked pretty.

The Luxor Hotel was Amazing

The Luxor hotel was amazing... Everything about it was themed, from the giant statues leading up to the hotel to the sphinx that was the monorail.  There were plenty of cafe's and restaurants to choose from including McDonalds (for those that are on a tight budget or have kids that can't go without McDonalds), the Pyramid Cafe, The Cathouse, The Backstage Deli, Starbucks and more.  I was thrilled to see Starbucks.  I can't seem to get my day started without my mocha fix!

Our room was lovely and had a wonderful view of the strip. It was very comfortable with hieroglyphics on all of the furniture and bedding.

The employees were all pleasant and friendly.  All around a super place to stay while visiting Las Vegas.

Wedding Night:

We got married in Vegas on February 6th and what a beautiful room to spend our wedding night in. We stayed in a spa suite in the pyramid!!  Everything was just purrrrfect!

Getting to the room was a bit tricky but to be perfectly honest, once we got to our room, we never left again until check-out.

This hotel is in a great location, situated right between Excalibur and Mandalay Bay.  We have a spa room reserved for our return trip in two months.  CAN'T WAIT!!!

Re: Luxor Hotel and Casino

We stayed at the Luxor for 5 nights in January and overall, I'd say our stay at this hotel was just a little better than OK. The room was clean but dimly lit.  The shower stall had a little mildew in the corners.  The bed was comfortable.  The window valance had water marks.  Food in the buffet was good.  $35 will get you food all day.  Plenty of cabs to get you where you like.  Costs about $22 to take a cab to Freemont Street.  Local bus, the Duece costs $7 for 24 hours but is very slow and some times very crowded.  The airport is very close to this hotel  The concierge offers a 6 hour bus tour of Hoover Dam, Ethel M's candy factory and a cactus garden.  Actually an excellent tour.

Serving up American-style burgers, sandwiches and fries, the Pyramid Cafe in the Luxor Hotel and Casino is a 24-hour restaurant with large portions and affordable prices. This is the perfect eatery to hit up for some late-night munchies after partying at nearby LAX or Cathouse Lounge. We recommend Pyramid Cafe's savory reuben sandwich or their delicious chili cheese omelet.

T & T Tacos and Tequila is an edgy, vibrant Mexican restaurant located in the Luxor, and features flavorful twists on traditional Mexican fare. Unexpected dishes like falafel tacos challenge the palate in exciting new ways, while bar concoctions take tequila to a whole new level.

Popular special events include a Sunday Mariachi brunch and Mischief Wednesdays, offering an exciting new place to chill out on the Strip.

The Cathouse Restaurant at The Luxor is an ingenious mix of the type of tantalizing food and titillating entertainment that you expect from a city like Las Vegas.  The decor at the CatHouse is made fanciful and sexy, by the "Coquettes;" a handful of lingerie clad dancers who perform burlesque inspired shows while you dine and drink.  Celebrity chef Kerry Simon offers fare from oysters to prime rib, and the full bar leaves nothing to be desired.  Modeled after a 19th century bordello, The CatHouse's dimly lit atmosphere, crystal chandeliers, scantily clad ladies and world class menu suggests Las Vegas debauchery at its finest.

Backstage Deli at the Luxor Hotel brings New York style deli food to the Las Vegas Strip.  It's a refreshingly casual eatery with monstrous sandwiches, home-made soups, flavorful salads, juicy burgers and specialties like potato pancakes.  Kosher style deli food is difficult to imitate, and Backstage Deli is the real deal, and open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the casino level.

Luxor Las Vegas Nightlife

LAX is located in the Luxor Hotel and Casino on the Strip, and it is one of the most popular nightclubs in Las Vegas. The club stays busy night after night as it draws thousands of party-goers and an impressive list of celebrites and well-known DJ's. LAX has multiple levels, and the DJ spins in the middle, bringing everyone together.

The dancefloor at LAX is almost always packed with sweaty dancers, but there are a lot of good VIP spaces that are just off the dancefloor, and that allow patrons to still be in the middle of all the action.

The CatHouse can be found right off of the casino floor in the Luxor Hotel and Casino, and is a triple threat, simultaneously serving as a restaurant and lounge, and turning into a nightclub later in the evening. As its name implies, the CatHouse is decorated in the fashion of an old bordello, setting up a sexy ambiance.

Burlesque dancers perform on stages at the CatHouse as patrons get to experience a laid-club club experience from the comfort of booths that line the side of the venue. And DJ's spin late into the night once the restaurant turns club.

Party VIP style in Vegas at Savile Row at the Luxor Hotel and Casino!  One of the most exclusive speakeasies on the Strip, Savile Row Las Vegas only allows members, invited guests, and the trendiest Vegas party-goers entry.  Dress to impress at Savile Row Vegas and enjoy ultimate sophistication.

Enjoy specialty drinks and cocktails at Centra Las Vegas. Centra at the Luxor is the perfect blend of high energy from a nightclub and laid-back ambiance of a lounge. It's also one of the Vegas Strip venues that is open 24 hours a day. Whether you're on your way to or from the club or need a nice drink with a few business associates, Centra Las Vegas is the right place for you.

Luxor Las Vegas Pools

4.65

The Luxor Pool is hard to miss—as sparkling pools and a whitewashed pool deck stretch underneath the overhead walkway from the Luxor's parking garage into the casino. The pool offers a welcome respite to guests, who stave off the hot Vegas sun with a satisfying dip.

There are plenty of options at the Luxor Pool, which, should more accurately be called the "Luxor Pools," since there are four different pools and hot tubs to use in the complex. The whole area is largely unshaded, so a tan is sure to come, and a cabana rental is a good idea.
