Luxor Hotel and Casino Las Vegas Summary
Features: The Luxor Hotel and Casino resides on the South Side of the Las Vegas Strip, and is easily identified by the large beam of light that shines from the top of the Luxor's pyramid. That light is a beacon for Vegas party-goers, as the action never stops inside the Luxor.
Why We Stay: There are a number of excellent entertainment options, from venues that will keep you up all night, to places to recover from said all-nighter during the day.
- LAX Nightclub: LAX is one of the most popular clubs in Las Vegas, it's easy to see why, since the club is notorious for serving strong drinks and playing the best dance music.
- CatHouse: Located in the middle of the casino action, the CatHouse is the perfect place to come if you are uninhibited, as performers dance throughout the lounge and eatery in lingerie.
- Flight: Vodka, vodka, and more vodka—this is what you will find at Flight, a bar on the casino floor where you can gamble and enjoy a variety of different vodkas.
Inside Knowledge: If you are coming to the Luxor to party, but don't want to spend a lot of money doing it, ask for coupons for nightlife when you check-in. Often times these coupons will get you to the front of a line, or a discounted cover charge.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Recover By the Luxor Pool: The Egyptian-theme extends to the Luxor pool, where guests come to relax, refresh, and restart the party during the daytime.
- Do Learn From the Free Gambling Lessons: Let's be honest, not all of the games on the casino floor are easy to understand, that's why the Luxor offers free lessons for craps and roulette that will teach you how to play.
- Don't Get Coffee on the First Floor: On weekend mornings lines for the Starbucks by the check-in will be about three miles long, so walk up stairs to the second Starbucks, where the line is usually just a few people deep for your caffiene fix.
- Don't Book a Room in the Pyramid: If you can, book a room in the tower, they have more space compared to the Pyramid rooms that are cut down by the abrupt angles of the architecture.

Luxor is great
Luxor is greatOk after reading some of these reviews (after we booked the Luxor) I was really worried. We have stayed at Caesar's Palace and Venetian on prior trips to Vegas. This trip was a spur of the moment thing so we wanted to save some money. The Luxor had a great all inclusive package going on! Yes the hotel is older and not as "nice" as say Caesar's, etc. but our room was clean...the food was good and check in was a breeze for us. Everyone was really friendly the whole time we were there. We stayed in the basic Pyramid room and it was fine. We had a comfortable bed and a tv with cable. I mean, it's not like you spend a whole lot of time there anyway! I just want people to know that if high class is what you want, then stay elsewhere, but if you want a nice clean hotel with pretty scenery and good restaurants, etc. for a good price then try Luxor!

Nice hotel
My husband and I stayed at the Luxor this passsed weekend. This was the 1st time either of us had ever stayed here. We got a great all inclusive spa suite package deal online. We arrived an hour late from their 3 pm check in. The lady told us that are room wasn't ready and it would be 2 hours. WHAT? But she immeditelly accomodated us. She took off 2 nights of resort fees and put us in a non smoking spa suite. Here was the problem. My husband is a train. Which I told her that. She told us no problem I will send up an ashtray. Thought that was kinda strange but ok. We really weren't in the room much. The More Buffet was GREAT. We had ate at the Tropicanas buffet earlier that day and it was aweful. Food was old. My only complaint was the shower is tiled and the grout had black mold growing in it. We never had a chance to tell them until we left. Also I would suggest that if you're a coffee drinker. Ask them to put a coffee maker in your room. The Starbucks in the Luxor is ridiculously priced. My husband drink that he normally gets was $2.15 more than what he normally pay. $7.10 is a little crazy for a coffee. Other than that it was a great hotel.

Great place!
The Luxor was terrific. We’d stayed at Treasure Island for the first three days of our trip and it was nice but just your basic hotel room. Upon our return to Vegas after visiting the Grand Canyon, we dropped into the Luxor without a reservation and, while they had no rooms the first of the three nights we wanted to stay, they called two other hotels and provided options to me. Very helpful! I booked for the remaining two nights and was offered a standard room at $50/night or we could upgrade to a Spa Room for $100 a night. The Spa room was amazing, basically a two room suite with a huge jacuzzi tub right by the window. Very nice room, I was very satisified. The hotel’s location is perfect, right on the strip and walking distance to just about everything. The parking was free and easy to navigate (as it was with Treasure Island). I really couldn’t believe how easy it was to get around Las Vegas, even the Strip wasn’t traffic-heavy as I was expecting. I loved Las Vegas and I look forward to staying at the Luxor again. I didn’t gamble a single penny and there was no lack of fun things to do there.

Poor staff...
Poor staff...The Luxor is a decent hotel. We were high up in the pyramid and it wasn't bad. The rooms are a little gloomy (you really DO feel like you are in a tomb), the lighting could be a little brighter, the furniture had seen better days but we didn't go to Vegas to be in the room long anyway! The restaurants were a little expensive, but the buffet was reasonably priced. The only BIG problem we had was the staff. They knew nothing about anything other than what they were doing at that minute, we thought that for the price and the status of this hotel, all staff should be polite and helpful. We had a good time regardless, but the staff brings my rating down to 3 stars.

Needs a facelift
Needs a faceliftI stayed at the Luxor this past weekend because we got a really good deal on our room, it was small, even though we upgraded to a bigger room, I would hate to see what the small room looks like cause the bigger room was pretty small. The walls are thin and you can hear whats going on all over...the best part of the hotel was the pool and the casino...which was paying pout big time!. The Luxor, I think needs a face lift....it is way over due for this classic hotel.

construction in hotel a nusance. Room dimly lit. Bed sheets smelled bad
construction in hotel a nusance. Room dimly lit. Bed sheets smelled badI have stayed at several hotels next to the Luxor and none of which had obstructions to room access. Room bedding smelled of cigarette smoke in a "non-smoking" room. The inclinators were another annoyance. The front desk did not instruct visitors how to use the inclinators. We found out from other visitors and we in turn instructed others during the course of the day. Direction signs for the first and second floor are needed. The casino and food areas are like a maze. One wrong turn and you are going the wrong direction or you are going back the way you came. We were expecting more from a very well known landmark and resort. I am sorry but I cannot recommend this hotel at this time and do not expect to return to this hotel.

Great plae to stay on the Strip for the money
Me and my wife chose this hotel based on the rates and location. We also upgraded the room to a suite for an extra $25 a night. It was worth twice that.
The room consisted of a living/bar room complete with sofa television and fridge (one that wasn't full of expensive bottles of water - so you could actually store stuff in it). - The Bedroom was a king bed also had a television end tables and plenty of room. - The bathroom was a decent size, it had his and her sinks, a jetted bath tub and separate glass shower.
The hotel itself is very easy to navigate and offers everything you'll need. The casino is one of the smaller ones on the strip but it still has all of the games. There also is a food court in the hotel not to far from the rooms. And an array of clubs which I will also review.
Luxor is connected to Mandalay Bay through the Mandalay Bay shops which has more place to eat and leads into the larger Mandalay Bay casino. Luxor is also located not to far from the Excalibur. There is a free tram off the front entrance that will also save you a few steps to both of those hotels.
As far as the Luxor goes I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone who is not looking for extreme luxury and looking for a good deal on the strip.

Good already rebooked
I just came back from my first visit to Vegas .. so many hotels to pick from and I made a great choice with the Luxor. Yes, there are glitzier hotels .. but for the money it is great. Loved that you can walk from one hotel to another. I spent 4 days sort of just watching people, gambling, seeing shows .. If you enjoy gambling .. you should try this place .. lots of tables and machines to choose from and the casino staff is really great. I was fortunate enough to have my 4 nights comped as well as a great dinner and to my surprise a limo to the airport .. Even took home more money than I arrived with .. What more can a gal ask for on a first visit? I have already booked another visit for a week .. more to see ..

LUXOR is ok, but not luxurious
I didn't have an awful time, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. We stayed in a room in the pyramid our first night and the ceiling was incredibly low - felt like the walls were closing in on us...we asked to change rooms, the staff accommodated us. So, the second night we stayed in a tower room - much easier to relax, but still not nearly as nice as most of the other hotels on the strip. However, it was on the cheaper side and who really spends that much time in their room when in Vegas? Most importantly, the bed was comfy... past that, we was out partying and gambling. The casino was just ok, but I usually prefer to gamble in the MGM. We didn't get a chance to check out the pool, but it looked pretty.

The Luxor Hotel was Amazing
The Luxor hotel was amazing... Everything about it was themed, from the giant statues leading up to the hotel to the sphinx that was the monorail. There were plenty of cafe's and restaurants to choose from including McDonalds (for those that are on a tight budget or have kids that can't go without McDonalds), the Pyramid Cafe, The Cathouse, The Backstage Deli, Starbucks and more. I was thrilled to see Starbucks. I can't seem to get my day started without my mocha fix!
Our room was lovely and had a wonderful view of the strip. It was very comfortable with hieroglyphics on all of the furniture and bedding.
The employees were all pleasant and friendly. All around a super place to stay while visiting Las Vegas.

Wedding Night:
We got married in Vegas on February 6th and what a beautiful room to spend our wedding night in. We stayed in a spa suite in the pyramid!! Everything was just purrrrfect!
Getting to the room was a bit tricky but to be perfectly honest, once we got to our room, we never left again until check-out.
This hotel is in a great location, situated right between Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. We have a spa room reserved for our return trip in two months. CAN'T WAIT!!!

Re: Luxor Hotel and Casino
We stayed at the Luxor for 5 nights in January and overall, I'd say our stay at this hotel was just a little better than OK. The room was clean but dimly lit. The shower stall had a little mildew in the corners. The bed was comfortable. The window valance had water marks. Food in the buffet was good. $35 will get you food all day. Plenty of cabs to get you where you like. Costs about $22 to take a cab to Freemont Street. Local bus, the Duece costs $7 for 24 hours but is very slow and some times very crowded. The airport is very close to this hotel The concierge offers a 6 hour bus tour of Hoover Dam, Ethel M's candy factory and a cactus garden. Actually an excellent tour.
